Should u quit just because enemy feels like winning?

So, this guy BvM got angry that I was still playing, when my allies got mini-dumped, while we were winning, and I was left alone fighting 1vs3 with 2 AIs on my side, 60% of the star system and with huge intact fleet under my disposal+ booming economy.

Would you quit anyway? I have won many games with AIs left from players before, but lost that one with BvM, after which he started swearing&lying in other forum posts on how i didn't quit after my allies did.

What would YOU do?

Cheers!

If you were in the winning position, I sure as hell wouldn't quit. It's one thing if your team members lose a few skirmishes and then book it, that's a much harder position to recover from and I probably would quit.

If you've got the advantage, fight them to the bitter end. AI's may not be a strategic match for players, but they're no pushovers either. It's gonna take time to bring them down, and that buys you the necessary time to take out one of their allies and even the tide.

Thing is, in the game in question, it had been clearly decided in favor of the team that was asking Champ to quit.  I watched the replay of that game.  It was clearly over.

Then in that case...

Yes. You should have quit.

AI allies are little more than a stall tactic. They will never beat a good online player, merely serve as a stopgag for you to push your advantage into a clear win. If you have superior map control and can take out one of the opponents fairly quickly, by all means push for the win.

If, however, the map is divided, the only way you can win is if your opponents fuck up a lot. Save everyone the trouble and just restart.

It should be noted that once the game had been decided, the winning team has already "won", so the issue isn't whether or not you should quit because your opponent feels like winning.  Rather, the issue is, should you quit because the game is basically over and your opponents are gong to get bored doing a mop-up job and want to move on to the next (competitive) game.

I actually think that the OP should quit. But not quit to lose. I think both sides should agree a null result and just end the game as a draw or a no result or whatever you want ( WHO CARES!!!). And frankly its easier for the game to end by the 1 guy quitting then for the 3 guys to quit . Theres always a next game and ironically by quitting the game quickly you can get into the next game before it fills up.

I think its cruel on the 3 players.  if theres still one left whos intent on winning the game with quit AI allies , 2 of those players will have to be playing the AI for 1-2 hours and its boring.

Offcourse my reasoning is all based on the fact that STATS are useless , so who cares who gets the win screen. I can get a win screen spamming games of me + ally vs Nobody ( INSTA WIN SCREEN WOW)

I really do not see why he should quit (unless he wanted to quit of course) unless he was causing technical problems such as lag or slowdown. If the opposing team isn't even willing to put in the effort to win after 2 of his teammates crashed out of the game they don't deserve victory anyway. Either agree to a draw and quit all at the same time or continue on to the end but don't go demanding cheap, meaningless wins because you don't feel like playing the AI.

It's not about effort. Or rather, it is. Defeating the AI is no effort for most of the players online. It's predictable, weak and easy to outwit. It's just tedious to bomb each and every planet in a huge map and chase down colonizers just because one guy didn't feel like giving up or wanted to harass the enemy by dragging out the game. Like it or not, behaviour like that is considered rude online, since even fast games take about 1-2 hours. Prolonging the game will likely result in a bad reputation or even blacklisting by some clans.

I don't quit just because I've lost allies if I still think I can win.  I've had several games where people on my side bailed or crashed, including a couple where all my allies got disconnected and I was still able to carve out a win.  On the flip side, I've also had games where I was doing very well in my own part of the map and probably could have made the game drag out for an extra hour or two, but conceded knowing there was no way to win.

I can understand that sometimes people enjoy fighting out the losing battle, and I've had a couple times where people pissed me off enough that I made it tough for them to claim their victory.  But for the most part, the multiplayer community is small, why upset people to the point they don't want to play with you anymore.  Unfortunately, Sins games tend to largely be decided an hour before they are actually over, so isn't it better to just start a new game and play out the more interesting first half?

When the economy/ Planets/ and military is given to the AI, they can actually fight pretty well lol

Ill Only leave the game when I know for sure i will lose.

I think anyone that wants to play should play as long as they want, if someone in a game feels the game is over they are welcome to quit at any time.  I have played games where someone on the other team says GG and my teammates just quit, even if there was a chance, I have also played games where one of my teamates lagged out and we still won, or vice versa. You never know what will happen so just play till you are defeated.  The remaining people in this instance had the option to team up and assault the last opponent, AI's will just throw their fleets against AI, you only have to kill the HUMAN opponents to WIN..............

I dont defend people who DRAAAGGGG the game on by going AFK, and I dont defend people who hide colonizers on AI planets.

If you seriously feel that the game is over and you want to quit, NO ONE IS STOPPING YOU FROM CLICKING THE QUIT BUTTON.

ANYONE WHO PLAYS MOP UP FOR 2 HOURS IS JUST A SAD SAD PERSON, ITS YOUR OWN FAULT, DONT BLAME SOMEONE ELSE THAT YOU STAYED FOR 2 HOURS, NO ONE TWISTED YOUR ARM.  ROFL ROFL ROFL

You can pad your stats anytime you like, just HOST GAMES WITH 1 COMP ON YOUR TEAM AND SHIZAM INSTANT WIN!!!!
