Severe freezing/stuttering issue

Me and my brother are having a hard time playing Demigod now due to frequent 2-3 sec freezes about every 10-15 seconds i

I recently got a new computer and immediatly after I finished building it i tested demigod and it was smooth (about a week ago)
(Q9550, 8GB Ram, GF 260GTX)

Sim speed was 8-10 in a large map with max amount of AI players and flawless FPS.

But when i tried a game today its still flawless FPS and Sim speed but nomatter if i only add 1 AI or 10 i now always get those 2-3 sec freezes in a 10-15 sec interval.

Since both me and my brother are getting the freezes / stuttering then its hardly my computer's fault.
Which means this is either something server side or due to a patch.

Anyone else experiencing the same issue?

I have had similar problems today as well. The worst is when a match ends as the game gets totally frozen for a while before or just after the scoreboard comes up. After waiting for about half a minute it becomes responsive again.

I suspect it is some kind of network/server issue.

I experienced this for the first time today actually, I did a quick me + 4 ai vs 5 ai match.  The game paused on me for about 4-6 seconds about three times within 10 minutes.

Me also, this has been happening since about lunchtime in Europe so I guess early morning US.

Was fine this morning but horrible spikes all afternoon.

Same here. I noticed this very early yesterday morning. I was playing against 2 AI's, if that makes any difference. It seems to me to take a bit longer than 10-15 sec between stutters, but they are very definitely there.

I too have been experiencing some of the aforementioned stuttering, after having downloaded the most recent update. Not as bad as every fifteen seconds, but it's there alright. I'm getting the problem Andan mentioned as well. I thought the game app had frozen up permanently after I finished my first match there... >_>

Tried to play a game last night, and the problem is MUCH worse. The game freezes at the movie screen; sometimes it will eventually pass, and sometimes not. It has frozen completely in the lobbly, so that I had to CAD out. Twice. During the game, there are regular freezes now, lasting ~10-15 seconds, then a bit of play, then another freeze, in a pretty regular cycle.

I don't have a firewall, other than Windows. I have AVG antivirus running, although this has never been a problem in the past.

I will try to launch a game later this afternoon, and see if anything has changed.

The 1-2 second freezes at 15 sec interval issue is till there.

And it seems to happen whenever the debug.err recieves this :

DebugMessage:  WinHttpSetCredentials() returned TRUE with code 0 (0x0)
DebugMessage:  WinHttpSendRequest() returned TRUE with code 0 (0x0)

I have a theory that this is related to the game trying to update the server and not getting a response. Will check  into it.

This happens to me too at random times.  It freezes for 2-5 seconds and I usually get disconnected with other people after I unfreeze.  When it freezes, shift-tab and alt-tab doesn't work, but I can move my mouse cursor.  The freeze happens with multiplayer humans and 1vs1 AI.

Thanks for pointing this out. We tracked it down, and it has been eliminated for the next version. It was actually every 30 seconds, when it performed a special synchronization with the servers.

Thanks Servo.  Did the bug also account for this issue?

Thank you gentlemen. Will there be a patch to correct this before release?

Well, as has been the case throughout the project, GPG blamed GPG's code for the problem and Stardock blamed Stardock's code for it.

I still think it was our fault. :)

As long as it's gone, I think we'll be happy no matter who was responsible.

There is a very similar freeze issue in the "host a game" lobby where you pick AI's and set gameoptions before starting a game
that however happens approx every 6 seconds, could this be related to the in-game one?

Anyways great that the in-game freeze issue has been fixed =)

The freezes are still present as of the new patch, although the freeze duration seem to be shorter now, but they still happen every 30 sec.

I guess the fix didn't make it into the last patch?

Yes, the freezes are definately still there. It's pretty smooth sailing until I get to the "Choose Your Demigod" screen, at which point the animation will periodically freeze, and there is no functionality save for the cursor. This continues into the game, rendering it unplayable. The cursor works, and the background track plays, (the wind/birds) but nothing else will work.

I'm getting them occasionally on the menus and then habitually once in a game. Sounds like you guys are all over it so that's awesome that it wasn't just me.

got exactly the same Problem now :(

This needs to be fixed before the game releases otherwise you'll probably see alot of whining on the forums.
Lag and freezes are probably the worst thing you can have in a game, i doubt there are other issues that kills the "feeling" of a game more than this.

Could this have something to do with me running Windows 7 64-bit (seems a bit farfetched though since i doubt they've changed the network handling in win7)?

What OS do you other guys with the same problem have?

Sorry, but no. I'm running XP SP3, and I'm reasonably certain that GPG/Stardock use Vista as their primary OS.

I'm confident that GPG/SD will get this glitch ironed out in pretty short order. That's good, because I really need to 'get my chops up' before release, so that I don't completely embarrass myself.

I am still suffering from this issue as well I am surprised that more people are not feeding this back as 2 other players I played with said they were getting these freezes as well.

I have desynced twice now during particularly long freezes so have given up until release now, hope this gets fixed!
