how do you download patches without impulse?
I'm not able to install IE7 on this computer so how does one get the latest patches without impulse?

By the looks of it. I guess IE7 is a requirement to play. Now I know why I've swtiched almost exclusively to console gaming after being a PC gamer for two decades.
On the bright side I no longer have to worry about buying entrenchment
Without impulse....well by asking oth erplayers on the community for their files! Only way!
I use Mozilla Firefox and Impulse works well with it.
That should not be a difficult requirement considering that it's stock on Vista and has been a critical update for XP for more than a year, but you don't have to use it, only have it installed (which is a good idea anyway, for security reasons).
I don't think there is a computer than can play Sins and not run IE7.
Work computer, IE7 can and does brake compatibility with some IE6 coded web apps, simpler to stop the update from happening. Or a copy of XP that is failing the WGA check (and yes WGA can go splat on legitimate XP installs). Or someone trying to use (DAR)WINE.
Or finally. Someone with dial up and can't be online enough to let XP patch.
<---- still running IE v6
not that i use it. not that i launch it. Firefox exclusely hear and impluse works (if you want to call it that) on my system.
sigh, i don't have internet at home, so i need to download the patches at work and take it home. this sucks. where can i get the offline patches? i have till 1.05, need the rest.
please help.
Why can't you get patches? don't have the legal version? or just don't IE7?
I'll probably get flame for saying this but you could download the patches via torrent, you just have to look
Impulse Anywhere doesn't require IE7. It is released in beta today. Basically it lets you download an Imulse update onto a disk or whatever from a computer with Impulse installed and transfer it to your non-Impulse computer.
Not quite correct. Impulse needs to be installed to install from the download, it just doesn't need to be connected to the internet.
However, the IE7 check on the Impulse installer was changed to a warning instead. So you can still install Impulse without having IE7 and it will warn you that not everything may work but it should be sufficient for installing from the Anywhere file.
One other thing to point out, Impulse Anywhere does not have patches. It has the fully patched full game.
On the bright side I no longer have to worry about buying entrenchment
That's a shame, because console gaming is a joke in comparison. Unless all you care about is shiny PS3 graphics with zero playablilty. I hate to say it but your post screams, "i downloaded this game illegally and now can't update it!...Waaaah!"
i'm running Sins AND Impulse on a computer with IE v.6 installed. i don't ever use it to browse. i'm on Chrome or Firefox for almost all web browsing.
none of that has ANYTHING to do with getting impulse to work. it works. it always worked. it never asked me what browser i was using.
i would highly recommend that you try to get Impulse working. its really the only legitimate source of patch updates.
Would like to update my sose but have no access to internet for home pc - moved to new area for work and accomodation has no lines in and wirless broadband in area useless (even my telstra has is difficult), however have works provide laptop that i could download to to update home pc to update sose.

pegasus62 have you looked into the australian broadband garentee from the aust federal government?
several of my customers (that live in town, but NOT in adsl supplyable areas have got satelite broadband with the government picking up the installation costs(appaently including the hardware as well))
hope this helps

I haven't tried this while offline, but in theory you should be able to patch Sins on a computer with Internet, then simply copy the entire directory to a USB thumb drive, and copy that over to the other computer.
Either that, or use Impulse's archive option.

Not the smartest thing to do.
