Can't update to the real version of entrenchment

Not sure if this is where i wanna go with problems with impusle, bt gonna go with it anyways.

I went to update to the latest version of sins and entrenchment, and i saw on the changelog that i need to completly uninstall sins and entrenchment to update to the final versions. So i opened up impulse and told it to uninstall entrenchment. It pops up the little window asking for permision, which i grant, and then begins uninstalling both sins and entrenchment.

After a while i get an error from impulse, it says, "There is an error in XML document (28,8). (Sins of a solar empire - Entrenchment) The error box gives me no options besides ok, and at this point it still says its uninstalling both versions of sins. After i hit ok Sins tells me its ready to be downloaded but entrenchment keeps talking about the XML error. If i try to do anything with entrenchment, uninstall again, or update, it fails.

So i reinstall Sins and impulse downloads the files, which takes some time. when its finished the XML error message from entrenchment dissapears, but it says it has an update avaliable. if i try to update it it tells me that i need to uninstall first and when i try to uninstall i get the same XML error and i find myself in square one again. So far i have uninstalled and reinstalled sins 5 times and still wont work.

If anyone can tell me what i am doing wrong that would be great.

I, too, have this problem. Tried to even erase the game from my hard drive and clean my registry with CCleaner, didn't work.

HALP!

Phasers had no discernible effect.

Throw an email to support@stardock.com, they will figure it out :x You can also hop on IRC #sins and #stardock and you might be able to catch Yarlen or Nakor (in #sins) or SD support people in #stardock who'd know.

Yeah, was planning on doing that later tonight. Thanks for the effort.

have you downloaded the latest update for SoaSE?  It says on the update page in the forum that you need 1.15 in order to run SoaSEE.  That is the problem for me i believe.

I uninstalled, reinstalled and updated Sins several times. It still won't let me download Entrenchment because it says I need to uninstall it first. When I try that, it fails and uninstalls Sins instead.

my version is not even verifying the download whic is annoying since i downloaded it yeaterday! and its only the patch for SoaSE!

If it's stuck on verifying, turn off your antivirus and restart Impulse with admin rights. One of those two always fixes it.

Me too.  Saw the email that Entrenchment final was about, tried to install it; it told me to uninstall and reinstall, tried, got the XML document (28,8) error.  Sins (not Entrenchment) spins forever.  Impulse doesn't want to die the first time.  Relaunch Impulse, uninstall Sins, it apparently works.  Install Sins, apparently works, play Sins, fails with "detected Entrenchement beta" please uninstall both.  Click uninstall and get XML document error, back to where I started before I began this sysaphean task.

C'on folks, wtf is this low-rent not-ready-for-production crap?  I've got better things to do than mess with impulse.

Please fix automagically so next time I launch Impulse it updates itself (if necessary) and allows me to install Sins&Entrenchment final without fuss (a requirement).  Your update widget should handle any neeed un/re-installing automagically as well rather than forcing the user to wonder which button besides "update" he/she should be pushing.

Thanks.

Oh, no antivirus is running (won't detect any malware worth a damn) and my luser account has admin rights (as if running on win32 was practical without it).

You must remove  Entrenchment first and then sins. If you remove sins first you need to delete every folder related to sin including the ironclad folder where the mods are located and start a clean install.
