The currency system is broken.
It's really easy to abuse the system. Strangely enough, it seems that CCP encourages it as they don't crack down on the infinite macro miners or isk bears who sell constantly on various websites (including Ebay). I have also caught a few GM that have separate accounts and sell to themselves. If they're not doing that.. they're just giving out money for no reason, invalidating having currency in the first place.
I haven't even gotten to the strange cult-like corporations you can join, how you never leave your ship (but for some reason can customize every detail of your chars appearance), not to mention the general sense of all-encompassing boredom that comes over me when I play it for longer than 5 minutes.
That only scratches the surface, but it's pretty much summed up.
I never said you said eve sucks, I'm merely asking you to state (which I notice you still haven't done) whether this is your personal opinion i.e. you don't like EvE and are making criticisms based on ancedotal evidence, or, your professional opinion i.e. made as a recognised impartial commentator that people know well and respect, and backed up with supporting evidence.
As an example, I could say that forum-whoring, internet disease and having my own attention-seeking website to underpin my bloated sense of self-importance is silly. I could also say that trying to pass off my opinions as fact is silly, or trying to sound like a games industry expert on a forum is silly. I could also say that a certain Internet Spaceships game is silly. But without qualifying it, it would just look I'm carping from the sidelines because I got my arse handed to me in a game that I'm clearly not cut out to play.
I actually agree with some of your "opinions", EvE is lacking in several areas. I could go on at length about how it could be improved, but I've found that when you do this on the EvE forums, all you get is the standard "can I have your stuff?" response.
In my personal opinion, EvE is fun at times, tedious at others, but what spoils it for me, is the legions of rabid fanbois who go into meltdown the second you criticise it. Try and have a sensible discussion on the forums sometime, you'll see what I mean. The drama EvE generates is epic, especially people taking losses of ships way too seriously for their own health, to the point where they will threaten all manner of nasty RL revenges (one guy still mails me weekly telling me "start watching your back B*tch", A YEAR AFTER I GANKED HIM) makes you think that people should not be allowed anywhere near a PC.
EvE isn't for everybody, it isn't a nice place, it isn't fair, it isn't for crybabies or carebears. The best ever thing to do with EVE if you don't like it, is never to play it. Sadly though, people can't stay away as they absolutely insist that their playstyle is the valid one, and everyone else is wrong. (again, my personal opinion)
Anyway, as this thread is not about "omg eve is teh suxx0rz! - NO U! EvE is teh b35t evar!one!!!!one111!", I'll get back on topic with this :-
