I doubt it. They both have infinate range, or at least very large range. If what your asking is do the refinery ships follow the trade routes, then I don't know, but I would assume that they have their own routes.
AFAIK trade ports generate income per se,but the the best tactic is to deploy them in adjacet grav wells so they create a trade route, the longer the trade route the higher the raw income.
For refineries i have noted that they affect extractors in the adjacent energy wells, not sure if their radius is bigger, i need to play more to burn my hand with this thought ![]()
Trade ports send their ship to any other trade port you have constructed, as well as the ports of emipres which you have a Trade Alliance with.
Refineries, however, only send their ships to extractors within the well the extractor is in and owned extractors 1 jump away.
Refinery ship only go 1 jump away? I thought they had routes, but then again I never followed them that long. Well this is good, it means that they go to extractors around gas giants and stuff 1 jump away i'm assuming.
