Still Droolin'

Man, I must say I have been drooling over Demigod since I saw the first videos. I am curious, is this an idea based on the warcraft 3 maps... It has been a few years since I've played them but its basically you get two teams, each team chooses heroes, and "creeps" spawn on 3 paths. You kill enemy creeps for money, to upgrade the team or yourself. You essencially push your creeps towards the enemy base and let it burn. You controll only your hero though, the creeps are an AI on pre-determined paths.

In any case I loved the interface of supreme commander, how unlike most RTS games it allowed for really seeing a giant battlefield or a small section of it taking you right into the action. I can't wait to see such a game engine being used on an interesting concept like this.

Since its Stardock I know it will have quality (I feel like Stardock is the Toyota of PC Games).

Questions:

Are there going to be demigod on demigod battles that are mroe than just click on abilities to use them, like real-time fighting? A bit of arcade fighting-game in the mix?

Will there be special consideration for gamers who prefer to do support roles vs front-liners? And by this I mean support roles being a very tough role to play, so its not the "newbie" role, but instead a role that skilled people are needed for, and as exciting as front-line battleing?

Yeah, DG was inspired by DotA; which is the custom map you speak of. And no, there won't be any "arcade" fighting; they are standing true to the RTS/RPG gameplay that was so successful in DotA but with more fleshed out and complex characters/abilities/maps. A prime example is the fact that each Demigod has a skill tree that you can shape the way you want (unlike DotA's 3-skill-1-ultimate system); it gives the possibility of having more than one type of Demigod by specializing in a different skill set. And because of this, each character will appeal and adapt to any one type of person's preferred game-play.

Well I hope they make the game take more micro, but button mashing like a fighting game I wouldn't want to see.

Though actually I thought Rakion was rather neat except for the horrible lag.

The thing I love about GOOD fighing games is that button mashing does not work. The whole point is VERY quick reactions and strategic planning. The idea is to get your opponent to predict your actions incorrectly. This is very tough if both players are on equal skill levels. You wind up mashing a few buttons but mostly executing well thought out move combinations. In any case if they can make it fun without then by all means do :)

The more I read on these forums the more excited I am about it. So the skills themselves are customizeable?

Anyone has any idea if it is still possible to get into the betas?

As far as I know it's too late to get into beta 1, but you should be able to get into beta 2 when it comes around next month.
