Galactic Civilization 2: Endless Univers

"...Civilizations II: Endless Universe, a new stand-alone add-on requiring no additional purchase and including the two previously released add-ons: Dark Avatar and Twilight Of the Arnor. Galactic Civilization II: Endless Universe will be released at the end of August for a recommended price of £19.99."

Well ... my face fell on the floor. I've read in a gaming magazine, and then searched the web to confirm it, that a new stand alone GC2 will be released.

I'm a little confused about it because I know there should be a new update for TotA and DA coming soon ... the 2.0.

what is Galactic Civilization 2: Endless Univers is it an expansion pack or what?

It's the European release of DA/TA in a bundle with DL. Do a search around the forums and you'll find a dozen or so more posts, some of which Kryo or such have responded.

Actually DL is not included, since Kalypso does not have the rights to distribute it. DA/TA were modified to run without it for this release.

Do i need to move to London to get this special deal and gather a mere 19.99 sterling pounds to "replace or enhance" what i already bought in full blast US funds?

Which reminds me... i just came across a brand-spankin' new genuine 'UFO:Aftershock' DVD-rom for a slick cost of only 9.99CDN the other day. What was i thinking, man.

Is there a fixed releasedate for the German version ?

You know this really miffs my hide.  I just paid seperatly nearly 60 bucks for the two expansion packs and now they are going to be included in a new expansion pack for about 1/3 the prices.  THIS IS NOT RIGHT!  Time to call Visa.

Oh man, I just recently bought all 3 for US$59.95. Endless Universe isn't the same as DL, DA and TA combined, right?

It is.

In Europe, DA was never released.  So now that TA is out, Kalypso has bundled the two together and removed the need to have DL.

Hey Atrocities, how'd calling VISA work out for ya?

Well if it is something exclusive to the European, then not much I can do.

But if the whole world can have it, darn, that's not right man.

The world can have it, you can buy this pack on ebay and it's shipping worldwide. Anyway, I got the ultimate pack from Impulse anyway, knowing I could have purchased Endless Universe from eBay for less... but I didn't want to wait for the release date and shipping delay (I bought Sins of a Solar Empire of eBay and it took 3 weeks...I'm not very patient) :P

As well, ebay frequently has used or bootleg copies for sale which you won't be able to register for updates anyway.

I've bought several games from ebay and never had any problem. I always got original unused software with a working s/n for online play or registration. But I only buy from recommended Powersellers and avoid "used" copies. My Sins copy e.g. works fine and is not a bootleg or pirated copy.

Anyway, I bought GalCivII from Impulse just so I could start playing immediately :D It's worth the extra bucks in some cases... But for people with more patience who want to safe some money, I can recommend buying games from eBay, just make sure to use Powersellers with good feedback.

That's rarely any proof. Most of the bootleggers are also powersellers with high feedback, because the buyers either don't notice or don't care.

I suppose I got lucky... several times :D

But I agree...it's not without risk. I balance the risk before I decide to purchase something from ebay. e.g. If a game costs me 45-50 euro in the shops here and I can find it on ebay for 15-20 euro including shipping charges (which is quite often the case), I happily accept the risk. Whether other people want to take this risk is their choice, but I've yet to have a bad experience from buying games on eBay. And the money I already saved with buying the titles I currently have it will compensate for a couple of bad experiences yet to come ;)

I can also recommend buying from Impulse, it was a bit annoying for me to register the game as my paypal address is different from my impulse account, but once I figured that out it was a piece of cake. I'm likely to buy more titles from Impulse in the future, I already pre-ordered the micro-expansion pack for Sins e.g.
