George Bush triumphs throuh Censorship

American Citizens, like, essentially all human beings should be considered innocent, until proven guilty. The same could reasonably said of a forum topic, or any other public discussion in a country where Freedom of Expression is considered a fundamental right. George Bush has worked very hard to reverse that sort of human right. And, regrettably, we have forum moderators who believe the same thing. Why have an off-topic section at all if the moderators are such cowards, or so biased, that they allow any hint of controversy as a reason to lock a thread? Nothing inappropriate was said in the "What do you think of George Bush?" thread. But, like George Bush, like our congress, KYRO has chosen to put his own personal opinions, and I suppose the need for money, in front of the public interest.

From the notice which has been stickied at the top of this forum for nearly two years:

While the OTF here is the catch-all place for anything you want to discuss that's not games-related, we request that users refrain from starting overtly political and religious threads here, or others that are very likely to veer to such topics. Such threads more often than not degenerate into flamewars and do nothing to engender friendship and camaraderie among fellow players; in fact they often do the opposite and drive players away.

That is not to say that Stardock has anything against such discussions; this is just not the place for them. Users are welcomed to discuss matters of any kind over on the JoeUser.com Forums (which, being Stardock owned, will use the same login as here so you can just pop right on over and start posting if you like). You can even start your own blog there, be it political or based on another topic.

Thanks for cooperating and helping to keep things friendly here.

I'm no fan of the man myself, but maintaining a positive atmosphere on the forum here is more important than having the same discussion that's been had and re-had an uncountable number of times in the past seven or eight years. Tangential topics may get the benefit of a chance, but ones such as that are better stopped before they start.

If you really want to press the topic, you're more than welcome to at JoeUser as above. This just isn't the place for it.

Kryo's just doing his job. He's keeping things civil by heading off trouble before it starts, and that post had trouble written all over it. I sympathize with your position, but these forums are not the place for this type of discussion. Things start out civilly enough, but they always degenerate into something much less pleasant.

Take yourself, for example. You have already resorted to name-calling, and to someone who certainly doesn't deserve it.

There are other places where you post these type of things. If you're looking for opinions from the 'Stardock crowd', then I suggest Joe User. It's a great site, with plenty of sharp people to trade ideas with, and you can get a little more edgy over there.

This certainly isn't censorship. It's just keeping this party under control, so your parent's house doesn't end up in flames.
