How come the nice in-game graphics in DL is not in Twilight of the Arnor??

In the Dread Lords expansion you could zoom in real close in the galaxy may and see nice graphics for stars, planets, starbases, asteroids, etc.

In Twilight of the Arnor you zoom in and see the texturelss graphics that were are in the original Gal Civ2 game?

Did they leave out these nice graphics in Twilight of the Arnor or am I missing something?

Do you perhaps have some check boxes unchecked in the Video tab?

Are you saying you ARE seeing teh DL zoom in textures in Twilight of the Arnor?

The graphics and textures in TA are much, much better than those in the original Dread Lords release. If you're not seeing high detail textures you either have some graphics settings turned off or are experiencing some other kind of technical problem.

Lol...I was almost thinking. WHOA....is this dude for real. But then I read his post. I am sure it's a setting or a technical error of some kind.

Make sure you have updated video drivers, and then contact Stardock technical support, after checking all your settings :)

Yeah, I didn't get a chance to play the beta much, so when I cranked the game up, I was stunned to see how good it looked. I sure as hell don't remember Dark Avatar looking that good (and it didn't, heh).

Perhaps you are refering to the Tactical View zoom level? If you have it to 0 all you see are the tactical icons. If it's at the maximum you see the actual graphics all the time. The default value, I believe, is 25. Zoom out far: icons, zoom in and you see the graphics.

In general yes they are. I'm taking about when you are in the main game screen and you zoom in to look at let's say and asteroid you want to mine. In DL the asteroids are very nicely detailed.
When I do this in TotA I see the plain non-textured graphics.

He may just have various check boxes unchecked. My PC sux and I play with a lot of textures turned off to have a decent framerate.

Achronous,

Thanks I'll see if that helps.

Tactical zoom level is set at 100 - in fact I think I set everything to max.

I would carefully compare the graphics settings that you have in Twilight to what you have in Dread Lords and Dark Avatar. You may have inadvertently turned something off or down.

Was it set on 100 or did you just set it? So isn't the problem solved?

Nope - I'll go over my settings once more though.

It was already set at 100

Just capped these from my install.

Asteroid in TA:

Asteroid in DA:

And of course there were no asteroids in DL. Hope that's somewhat helpful for comparison.

Oh, ok... Did you check the texture settings then, as Lipdour suggested?

Vinraith's pics show that TA's asteroid look similar with maybe the specular intensity changed so check that as well.

Problem soloved!

I went in-game and set the Tactical View zoom hit "continue" then went back and set it to 100 and I can see everything in it's full glory!

Thank you all for helping!

Hmm don't have an edit option:

This should read:
I went in-game and set the Tactical View zoom to 0 then hit "continue"...
