how does vasari phase gate works?

been searching the whole forum for this but with no success...

the description was it connects one phase gate to another within the same solar system... but is this what i think it is? it can connect planet?

will this enable you from traveling without the phase line to another one of your planet? if so how? i've been trying to figure this out but everytime i travel it's still on the phase lane...

in short, what does it do exactly?

If you have two phase gates, one at the departing planet and one at the arriving planet, your ships can jump directly from one planet to the other and never have to use the phase lines between other planets or have to slow down for the gravity wells of the planets in between. Additionally you can unlock research that makes jumping through phase stabilizers actually faster than normal phase lines, and even further research opens up Returning Armada which doesn't sound strong but actually has a lot of people screaming for a nerf.

To answer your specific question:
1) Build a phase gate at one planet.
2) Build a SECOND phase gate at another one that is not a direct phase lane connection (i.e. has to normally go through at least two hops)
3) Select the fleet at one of the two planets, and issue a move order to the other planet (right click on it).

The fleet will approach the gravity well edge that is closest in a line toward the destination planet, even if there is no phase lane exit there, and then enter phase space at that point and proceed directly to the destination plaent.

Happy phasing! :)

no edit button... lol

EDIT: can cap ships travel on this phase gates? or just ordinary units?

All units that can travel along phase lanes can use phase gates. But both your origin AND your destination planet MUST have a Phase gate. You can't travel from a phase-gated place to every other planet, only to one that already has a 100% complete Phase Gate constructed.

*sorry didn't bother reading all the posts*

if you have a phase gate at planed a and one at planet b, *and they are not directly next to each other* the ships will take the quickest route to planet b
