Horray, resources back!

 

Thank you for restoring varible amounts of resources at each planet!  Wasn't really thinking about it until I noticed the first asteroid I went to take had 2 metal and a crystal, then the scout went around and I saw things were back to the way they should be, woot!

I'm noticing that asteroids always have 3-4 resources and volcanic/arctic planets have 2-3. This seems wrong, the assteroids should have 2-3 on average, while the volcanic/arctic planets should have 3-4 because they are more costly to build infrastructure on. Or am I missing something?

I had an asteroid with 4 and a gas cloud with 4 spawn last night. 4 on a non-planet world seemed excessive.

think of it as a planet that blew up. Planets still have the monetary/logistical/ and tactical advantage over asteriods

Yea, I've seen 4 on an Asteroid too (this morning on my first Asteroid I had 4 extractors, two Metal and two Crystal, felt so lucky). I've seen as much as 3 on a Gas Giant but I'm guessing that even the neutrals can go up t 4 from what Brindle said. And I have gotten screwed by an Ice World that only had 2 Crystal (in the same game as my rich Asteroid, too).

It's great to see random resources be back, though. They add another interesting factor to the game and can increase or decrease the strategic importance of areas. Just add more fun and variation to many maps, I think.

yes please...1.02 was (and still is) the best patch for our little gaming group of about 8 players because we could set resources to High and have 3 resource asteroids at regular planets + colonizeable asteroids and 4 resource asteroids at ice/volcanic.

PLEASE give us back the option instead of making it "random".

I like it standardized like this and all games having the random resources, it's much more interesting. :x
But it wouldn't hurt to have the resource option from before..

It would be nice, instead, though to make the randoming more fair between players. Sometimes you end up with one person getting a bunch of 2/2 roids, 2/2 deserts, 4 ice/volcs, while anotehr player has 1/1 roids, deserts, 2 ice/volcs.

Making the roid that is always connecting to the HW be guaranteed a 2/1 or 2/2 would be nice, no 1/1's by hw's. It's too much variance when one person starts with 1/1 and another 2/2, but the other randomness is fine.

Bah. If we want fairness, the options to determine what level of resources there are on the map should keep it even throughout the planets. I agree that it should be added back in as a game option.

Random should always be just that. Random.
