Wormholes / star system travel

So I was playing a large random map, got my explore on and had my choke points mapped out, when a relatively undefended planet behind my defensive grid was attacked by a hostile force.  While I successfully defended it thanks to a nearby fleet that happened to be a few stars over, after running them out of that gravity well, they retreated to a large red sun then jumped from there along a phase lane I couldn't see to somewhere.

My question is if certain stars act as wormholes in addition to wormholes?  I can only assume those ships were jumping to another star system based on their behavior and not showing up on any other surrounding system that I had ships at / controlled.

Anyone else experienced this?

Are you just talking about a normal jump between stars? That's just how it works once you have the appropriate research.

You won't see a phase lane for it but all stars in a given map are 'connected' to one another.

I guess that's what I meant, there was a big red sun and that's where I pursued the attackers, then they jumped from there to ???.

I wasn't aware you could jump from wormholes and from stars, I guess I need to guard against attacks from there as well!

I believe you can jump from any star to any star. To do so requires researching (Lvl 3 Civilian: "Long Range Jumps" for TEC), but it's really a basic method of travel between systems. It's especially important when there are no (or few) wormholes.

Oh, and wormholes cannot jump to stars or vice-versa. You can only jump star-to-star or wormhole-to-wormhole.

Hi all,

I am very new to this type of game and this game also.

I have a similar problem. Star travel, and worm holes. How to travel etc.

Where do I find this information ??

I am playing Advent, have researched half the tree, and still can not star jump etc.

Any help would be appreciated.

Not to be rude, but did you bother reading this very thread? The answers are given, and pretty clear. :)

I'm actuly having the same problem. I had a fleet sitting at a wormhole in a med size map. I right clicked on another wormhole behind my apponent on the other side of the map. next thing i know my fleet has maped a course through hostil planets in order to get to the other wormhole.

You just need to research the worm tech depending on the race you are using. I'm pretty sure every race has that ability, you just gotta find it.

With Vasari it's in the Empire tab not sure what it's called.

Clicking on the other side of the map won't do anything other than take you where you clicked the long way. You have to click on the center of the wormhole (the one you're sitting in. Not the one you want to travel to) to use it.

if you have wormhole travel researched, civi tech L5 iirc, click on the center of the wormhole to enter it and emerge at the other end.
