Bad Diplomacy = Flawed Game = Bad Value

Bad Diplomacy = Flawed Game = Bad Value

I have played a few single player games and on the larger maps , with teams locked, it seems the AI players always gang up on me. The diplomacy stinks. The missions from AI are usually impossible. ie the other side of the map . The player cannot initiate any requests. All this means is that even with a  max  fleet you cannot defend against two or three AI players who mass at a single point. On larger maps you cannot continue to expand because the further you go the more entrances to your empire which cannot all be defended. The AI players cease to attack each other  and it becomes 1 against 6 or 7 or 8 or 9. The AI players obviously dont have the same mission requirements as the human player. All up this makes this ( at first promising) game rubbish. Take my tip , dont buy it.

Are you trying to push people away from the game or to sincerely trying to make the game better? I've been following all of your posts, and it would suggest the former. You sound very bitter in general. Sorry to burst your bubble but major improvements require major work, and this falls under the expansion category, not a patch. I'm not sure where you get the impression that we (Ironclad) think the game is flawless, and resistent to improvement. Our history shows that we are very receptive to community feedback and the quantity and quality of our patches thusfar would suggest a more then reasonable amount of value.

On a seperate note, Future upgrades to the diplomacy and AI will be within the scope of a RT4X game, not a 4X game. I am getting the feeling that you thought this game was supposed to be a 4X game similar to something else you've played, or some other dream game you had in your head. When it didn't meet your expectations you began to take it out on the SINS community and prospective players, thinking that somehow this behaviour would motivate us to distort our game into your vision. Unfortunately we don't really work like that. We take constructive critisism from those that care about the game and community, not those that hold it at ransom.

Tell me you're planning to significantly improve the AI and overhaul the diplo system before you put out an expansion and I'll give you a great big one. What's more, I'll actually enjoy the game and probably buy the expansion. Sound good?

Vinraith, how many times do people have to tell you that the Diplo and AI are going to be overhauled before you stop telling them to overhaul it?! Geez, cut it out. Craig Fraser has already said that it's going to be overhauled, and several other people have pointed that out several times. And if you'd read the announcements on the main page, you'd know that 1.04 and 1.1 are coming up, and will rework AI, diplo, and such.

Now, I'll admit that diplo is flawed. I'm playing a 10 player pre-made map with 6 stars, and I was having a hard time, with allies telling me, 5 minutes into the game, to kill ships of an enemy in another star system, and enemies doing the same. Worse, I had some allies and enemies telling me to give them 3,000 credits or 2,000 crystal within 10 minutes, and I didn't even have a chance to capture my first colony. So, my solution? Start a new game and lock teams, because I know that until the next patch comes, there will be issues. I don't come on these boards and complain about flawed diplo, ignore Ironclad's messages that it's being worked on, and say it's rubbish and tell people not to buy it.

Now, on the flip side, when I was playing on 1.02, I had no problems with diplo on a 5 system map and 4 total players. I only missed a few missions because I was tied up with another enemy, but normally, I finished them because they were doable, because the missions involving attacking the enemy came after I established a foothold in the enemy system, while other missions involved giving resources.

I'm done. They've made it clear that the AI is being worked on and that the diplo system is not going to be addressed until an expansion, so no further discussion is needed on the subject other than to inform people of those facts. I'm upset about the diplo but hearing about it further from me clearly isn't going to sway them.

Of course. Nothing more is needed. No swaying required. All 9 of them are working on this (and whoever else they pull), in accordance with the communities concerns. All that is left is patience. And I'm certainly willing to wait for it.

By "sway" I mean "to encourage them to address the diplo problems in a patch." I've been politely instructed to stop talking about that, though, so other than this clarifying remark I'm doing just that.

I dont know why are you calling the ai retarded.Have you played CoH,DoW or WiC?Their ai is far worse than this.CoH and DoW just spam the hell out of something and hope to win.Sins ai isnt that bad.At least they know how to use most of the game's features.

If Sins ai doesnt know how to bid for pirates or colonise a planet,i would say it's bad.Very bad.

Im happy with the current ai,even though it's a bit coward and slow in research but it's way better than most games.

The ai is constantly being work on and thats a good thing. Most devs dont even give a shit on ai after the game is release.

Besides, making an ai is not easy.It took 3 years for the DoW community to create a kickass ai.

Locking. Devolved thread with very little constructive elements.
