crash to desktop

I recently started playing GCII again and the same problem of crashing to desktop, starts to crash when u know your going to win and taking the time to clean up the rest of the civs.

Does not matter if playing with tiny map(1v1) or huge map with 8 civs.

Drivers are all updated, virtual memory at 4000mb, autosave at 0 turns.

There seems to be no solution, tired of sending reports in.

This time I have no choice but to throw the game out, not going to put it away again because will lead to me trying to play again in 6 months time only to be frustrated again.

Is there another game by someone else that is similar to this one I can try out there?

Farewell and good luck Stardock!!!

feelfreetodie, you really need to post your debug.err info.

Just saying that all your drivers are up to date doesn't mean they really are.
And the debug info may show what the problem is.

We have no idea what version of the game you are playing, or anything about your system.

it could be that you dont have enough RAM! they say that GC2 uses up your RAM and then it crashes and that you should save and quit every once in a while to free up some memory and then load and continue

Please open your debug.err file in notepad, and copy/paste the contents into a post here. This will give us some technical information that can help troubleshoot your problem. The location you'll find the debug.err in varies depending on your game version:

Dread Lords, all versions:
C:\Program Files\Stardock\Totalgaming\GalCiv2

Dark Avatar 1.5-1.6 (non-Vista):
C:\Program Files\Stardock\Totalgaming\GalCiv2\DarkAvatar

Dark Avatar 1.6+(Windows Vista), 1.7+(non-Vista):
My Documents\My Games\GC2DarkAvatar

Twilight of the Arnor:
My Documents\My Games\GC2TwilightArnor

Be sure to copy the debug immediately after the error occurs; if you start the game again, the debug will be erased and recreated for the new session.
