Your Favorite Race

I know this post has been done before, but the few I've searched for didn't show many replies -- I'm really curious to know which of the three races people like most. Personally, I prefer the Advent. I think they have the best overall "look" and the Daestra Crusader and the Illuminator are great for tackling large fleets. Their only drawback in my book is that annoying female voice that repeatedly proclaims "for the Unity!". I also like their ability to "auto-train" capital ships up to level 4 -- it makes replacing a defeated capital ship much less painful. As for the others, TEC are ok, but I've really struggled to get the hang of the Vasari. My opinion may be impacted by my play style -- I have yet to play a multiplayer game, and I usually play against normal difficulty AI in random medium solar systems with pirates. As the Advent I tend to do very well in these situations as I like to split my forces evenly between defense/offense. Let me know what your preference is on race and why you like it best.

i like vasari. well, vasari was my first choice (i liked their background story), and frankly, i haven't really played other two races. Besides the fact that vasari has the best offensive power, i really like their phase technology.

1) phase jump node - it basically let you build your custom star lane. Your fleet can phase-jump from one node to another. I use phase jump node extensivly for defensive purpose. I usually keep two mobile defense fleets per star system (huge map) and strategically place jump node around planets to counter any enemy attack. Also, phase jump node let you use 'Returning armada' ability.

2) phase missile - imo, this is advent killer. vasari military tech allows phase missile to ignore shield effect and damage hull directly with certain percentage.

At first I could only play the Advent, there was just something about them (probably the lasers, and the fact that you could see the beams even when zoomed out) that put them over the top. As I continued to play the game though, I really started digging the Vasari, and that's who I'm trying to get a real strat down with.

I couldn't stand their ships at first, but they grew on me. The phase missiles and lanes are pretty nice too. I haven't ever gotten to the dark armada yet, so I have no idea how that works out...

I'm a TEC man at heart, although the Vasari do intrigue me. I guess its the rough feel to there ships, and I like their fluff. I really like seeing the wall of missiles that spew from the Javelis LRMs, and they don't sound funny when they talk.

The Vasari just seem a little too slow and expensive for my tastes. As for the advent who would want to play as a bunch of exiled psychic space hippies anyway.
