Trade Ports

Is there any advantage to using one of your planets as a 'trade' planet and building multiple ports around it? I don't have the manual with me as I type this post but I think I remember it merely stating that building a trade port opens up new lanes of trade for increased income (as well as a bonus applied to all connected planets which have a trade port). If you build more than one trade port on a planet does that increase the percentage of trade income the planet contributes to the total?

There aren't any diminishing returns to trade ports. Each one just builds its own ships, and they go on trading. The more trade ports you have along the white line (bonus to trade), the more you'll make.

Yes. Having multiple trade ports at the same planet increases your income, but not quite as much as having them at other planets.

What white line?

Mouse over your credits count at the top when you are zoomed out and you will see a white line displaying your longest trade route. (You have to have adjacent trade ports to count as part of the longest route).

How exactly is your trade income calculated? The size of your trade network? Or by the length of your longest trading route? Both? Is it worth putting trade ports at every planet or are there cases where there isn't enough profit to justify the cost in resources and logistical slots?

Personally, I place trade ports on every planet if I can.

I do too, especially if I'm TEC, as you get them very early. They're good for making money, and if you can keep them around, they'll pay off their cost very soon. On average each one i have brings in 2.0 credits, and they cost around 750, so it take a little over five minutes to pay themselves off.

I wonder this, if I destroy an enemy trade ship, how much do I get ?
