In order of importance what are the 1st 30 things you do starting out?

Im new at this so please bare with me and let me explain.

1st of all Im having much fun- but need some tactical advice.

Ive been playing Sins for abt 4 hours now and have started over many times. The main reason is because I wasnt able to get two like planets colonized next to each other while fighting off pirates and doing research etc etc....

What I have noticed is like Total Annilation, and Supreme Commander, there are things that need to be done every time in order (or close to that order) when starting the game, otherwise one gets behind and cant keep up with the AI even on easy.

So Im asking those beta testers who have done this in their sleep by now, can you tell me the 1st 30 (or so) things in setting up yer empire that must be done in your opinion, in order to stay alive ?

Thirty things?!?!?!

Thats a little excessive, unless you like memorizing build orders... which doesn't work in this game. There is a lot of variation, and -- so far -- no set "build orders" that you have to stick to.

Generally, I build my capship factory first, followed by the mines for my planet. I also build a couple of scouts (as appropriate), and (maybe) upgrade my terran's pop cap. Past that... it really does change a lot depending on the situation.

You definitely want to build a couple of scouts, a colony ship and a capital ship facility, along with the mines pretty quickly. Beyond that it's really up to you, you can build more frigates to fight with or go boom (like I do) and focus on economy/defense/quick colonization.
