Rich single player mode?

So does Sins have a rich single player mode with a decent AI? I don't play multiplayer games so just checking to see if Sins would still be a good game for someone to play single player only.

There is supposed to be a very good single player mode. Instead of creating a campaign, they've polished a unique form of skirmish mode until it gleams, which of course we haven't seen yet.
