I'm beginning to notice a large number of similarities between the was SOASE early game works and WC:FT III works. Firstly, you pick from a free hero unit at the start of the game, which is upgradeable and has upgradeable abilities, and starts out relatively tough but ends up incredibly strong. There is also the fact that expansions(planets are guarded by NPC creeps and are a very easy way to upgrade said hero. Now the rest of the game is not at all like WC:FT III, but this part just seems really similar.

How can you not compare it if almost anything is the same?
But better copied well as poor self-made.

It has "Heroes" with special abilities that level up. Mana is now Anti-Matter, it has the same (3) ressources, upgrades to units via the tech tree (you use special buildings in WC3)... after a few minutes I felt like I was in WC3..but now in Space - and I like space better.

While that is to a small extent true, that was not my point. What was my point was that the Cap ships leveled up, had "mana" or anti-matter, had 4 special abilities, 1 of them an advanced special, and leveled up easily by killing neutral crees. My point was not that this game was turning into Warcraft in space, my point was that the Hero systems were very similar to each other, to a point that it seems unlikely to be coincidental.
