Application archives where, can game be re-installed from them?

When I choose to archive an application, to where on the hard disk is it actually archived? Can I re-install the game from these archive files without the need of any additional internet downloads? (Extreme case: I get a new computer, want to re-install GalCiv, and Stardock doesn't exist anymore {let's not hope so}, so internet download via the installer doesn't work anymore - can I then re-install the game from these archives?)

It is stored under program files/stardock/sdcentral/Backup (somthing like that). To reinstall an archive you only need SDC and no Internet connection. So be sure to save the SDC installer as well.

Hi!
So be sure to save the SDC installer as well.

For unpacking it you don't need the SDC. The archive is a ZIP file. For a test I've just unzipped one of my old ones (GC-2 1.0x from march 2006) and it runs.

I didn't realise that. Because the files don't have the .zip ending.
Good to know. ;)
