The 1.8 updates..status?

I've been holding off getting the latest updates. Mostly because i've been in the middle of a game for a while now. And I am wondering if someone can tell me how the 1.8's are doing. What letter are we up to now? was there even a 1.7?

I'd like to wait until bugs and such are fixed and that issue with the maximum number of planets gets settled before i update.

Also, can i be directed to the thread with the list of changes for 1.8.

Im pretty sure they fixed the planets thing early on in 1.8. There was one version with a crash when one loaded a saved game. Another version fixed that but always crashed on the select opponent window. The latest version is playable but has a weird ship movement bug. They are working on a 1.8f to fix that.

There should be changelogs in the Journals section.
