no, I'm not gonna brag unless I get goaded into it (so dont test me)

6 diplomatic game (initially FFA) very VERY interesting spawns, strat and I allied because we each had 7 terran planets (between the two of us) within a few jumps of one another (I think the two farthest away were 7 VERY SHORT jumps, although most were adjacent) AND we completed a defensive loop, so infighting would have hurt us way more than allying helped. anyway I pulled of an assassination on emp's marza, which felt good, however it accomplished very little (ended up handing eet a terran planet on a platter) I didnt keep good track of the alliegance switches, however in the end emp and multi together pulled up a 7 tier combined attack force including SEVEN capital ships, I was shitting my pants to say the least

anyway, good focus firing and defense allowed me to shred 4/5 capital ships with only a small fleet of my own, I took severe losses however the ammount of healer-thingies saved the day and my own ass, gave strat plenty of time to come and rescue me. so then, I dunno, things ended

interesting replay however! I cant wait to look over what eets was doing the whole time, I get the feeling either he was in a pact with multi and/or TGE the whole time, either that or he was just bickering 1v1 with that other guy.

anyway heres the replay, I just felt like posting it to show some pretty interesting FFA alliegiances setup, its interesting how some formed of need (me and strat) and some out of spite (multi and emp) nothing really became of it, but I assume had the game continued (due to the massive cluster of terrans strat and I had) that we would have been able to way overproduce and overrun.

i know TGE had to leave, but this is getting ridiculous, since eet had to leave for some reason too as well, then i would be stuck we 2 AI that would doublecross me anytime.

Im usually always happy to play sins, but if this is whats comming...

AI that replace people should have a smarts meter as for how dependable they are, it should be a simple calculation of time together, bounty placed on that person (both before and after alliegance, although those should count differently) and how many defensive structures lie between their closest planet to you and their homeworld (a lot means buh bye sally)

yes, seems to be happening alot

You know its nothing personal to anyone at all, but when i play sins im in this mod of living into the game. I got my coffee, my smokes and maybe something close by to eat.
When im playing i lose the world around me and have a great time, but when someone leaves in the middle of the game, this feeling goes away, and if another leaves and its totaly ruined. but as i said its nothing personal, as ppl sometimes just have to go.

So maybe i would have to ask abit more to aviod this, ill have to give this a thought

Yes a good AI would help alot, but it will never be the same as playing with a human player (well not within the next 10-20 years ).

Your welcome though stardock has something in mind at release i think, but for the beta and beond you can always use that

true, i try my best to make sure that nothing will happen while im playing, but it's quite hard to do on short notice for a game as long as a 6 player game of sins

We are adding something that will allow you to direct AI you have strong alliances with so in a multiplayer game where an AI takes over for someone they will be in a full alliance with you and you'll be able to help them along. This probably won't be available until a beta 4 patch or release.

I am really sorry I left guys, but I had to call like 50+ people in less then an hour before going to an A-Mag Open Mic night.

I havent eaten since 5, and my day has been insane, next time if i join a game I won't leave unless my parentals get in the way. But I do have to say that everyone played very well, I think I still play too conservatively since almost all my money was going towards defens budgeting a planet on my fronteir with Schem, so I thats how Schem was able to catch my Marza all alone and by itself while I tried pathetically to expand. I had plenty of money the entire game however, and was able to rebuild a very large presistent fleet, anything destroyed was roled out brand new and shining to fronteir. So even thought that battle for your planet was lost Schem, the war was far from over. And however went crazy with the bouty(5k on poor multi) has to learn to spend their money a little better.

Schem and Strat and Eets got the good side of the map with a bunch of Terrans, me and Multi and Dark(who had only about one real planet, and that was ice) had the bad side, my empire was compossed of volcanics and one asteriod, same for Multi.

will it work in a FFA game as well? cause i dont like the random backstabbing the AI does atm

TGE dont take it personal, its just in general if one leaves that starts a chain-reaction, and when your in the middle of a game where alliances might have formed to take out larger threats. But as the players leaves this gets all messed up cause the AI thinks your evil

Schem and Strat and Eets got the good side of the map

I contest that, first of all eets got completely screwed over. second while strats and I had a few advantages (a lots of terran and a closed loop defense) you guys still had a lot of leverage, first of all you had a much greater mobility, AND you had some of them volcanics
NEVER! underestimate volcanics! they can create a massive army (200!!!points?! thats huge)

frankly this game had nothing going on, the only move anyone really made was me assassinating your ship emp. the only move you guys made since that was to hit my planet, and god knows you could have gone around


speaking of which phasespace inhibitors should not be blocked by dead asteroids IN YOUR OWN TERRITORY. thats frankly annoying (especially when you have a WTFed planet there)

And while I'm busy building up the first 50 or so points worth of fleet, you can come in with the 100 or so a terran would allow you and wipe me out... the fleet cap isn't very useful if you can't reach it quick enough.
