Help with patches please

I've downloaded a patch for Gal Civ 2, but where do I put it, I know you have to put it somewhere in the games directory, but where?

And also, is there only one patch/update out, if not where are the others?

If you found the patch on the downloads page just recently, it's most likely the "Bonus Pack" patch which should most generally be avoided (it is the very oldest patch, so unless you have the first-run version of the game, it'll break things if you try to install it).

As the 1.4x patch seems to have been removed from the downloads page, you will need to update using Stardock Central, which is on the downloads page. If you have the game registered to your forum account you simply need to install SDC, login with said account, find the game in the product list and click the Update button.
