Auto Survey Annoyance

Is there any way to set the Auto Survey feature to ignore wormholes? I hate it when my ship is clearing out an area near my opponents before their ship can get the stuff near them and suddenly my ship enters a wormhole and ends up half way across the galaxy.

Is there any way short of manually moving my survey ship to do this?

Sorry, but no.

That would be a good one for a future update . I don't imagine coding that would be very hard .

This certainly has been a desire for a good amount of time. Not quite so sure about how easy or not this may be to code.

One thing I would suggest is that it's a good idea anyway to take the slight amount of time it takes to research Sensors I and get a couple of survey ships out there other than your flagship. For one thing you can make these with far more speed than your flagship has which greatly helps exploring the galaxy. The extra cash and other benefits you get in finding anomalies is well worth the time it takes to do this and in the end if one of your survey ships goes down a wormhole it's no real big deal.

Yep. Cargo surveyors are an excellent investment once you've got the colony rush under control, especially on bigger maps where there are more anomalies. It only takes one good money anomaly to make them pay for themselves.

It can be a bad investment if you don't happen to get a cash anomaly though.

All that research to get sensors putting you at a scientific dissadvantage as well.

Also if you have the maximum number of opponents, they can mop up all the anomalies damb fast, even on larger maps.

In answer to your wormhole problem, just make anomalies 'rare' next game, if there was an 'off' option, then even better!

I regularly check my survey ships for wormhole presence. If it is close and I don't want my ship to enter it, I turn autosurvey for that ship off. At the end of its turn I turn it on to see where the next anomaly is, I send ship in that direction, and turn off autosurvey again. In close quarters (many AI survey ships close - what's most of my games ) I also manualy direct my survey ships, giving priority to Civ graveyards and meteorites. I pick the "Ship upgrade" only if it is on my way to the next meteorite, and wormhole if there's nothing more to pick around ship's positon, and parts of galaxy are still unexplored.

It's just one pretty cheap tech for most races.
