What's different?  I don't see any changes?

Hahaha, just kidding.  Looks great! Easy to navigate.  I love the new layout.  Now lets see what the rest of the masses say.

definetly pretty kewl! and its certainly a more standard layout and its faster all right. we'll have to see about the new post refresh rate....... better be instant!

edit: the refresh rate seems to be instant, which is good :)

also, there needs to be a mark all as read button.

I know you guys have just put up the new forum scheme and it is MUCH better than the previous one and you guys are prob still improving little things here and there, but I'd like to ask something.

could you guys add a function that allows the post times to be set to the local time zone a member is in? because the post times are currently set to EST while I'm in California and there are ppl who live as far away as europe or australia who visit these forums.

I can't promise that but I will consider it.

Quoting in firefox and Opera is currently disabled while we investigate a new javascript issue that popped up.

It is by design that you have to highlight text before clicking the Quote link. You'll have to file a request with T-Man if you would like to see that changed. However, as I understand it, that function has been the same for several years now.

ok thanks.

and BTW, that quote function still needs to be fixed because I still have to highlight instead of just clicking the quote button.

The new forums are really good but only in ie. In firefox 1.5, they don't work.

In firefox 1.5, they don't work.

Could you please expand on that and give us some details.

(currently posting using Firefox 1.5.04)
These forums were designed to work with the latest versions of Firefox, IE and Opera. We cannot promise compatibility with outdated versions of any of these browsers. Firefox 1.5.0.4 is the latest and has been confirmed to work properly with the new forum codebase and design (and happens to be the browser I'm posting this message from )

When reporting an issue, please be more descriptive than 'It doesnt work' and please provide the name of the web browser you are using and FULL browser version.

We've resolved the issue and Quoting has been enabled for Firefox and Opera.

Sorry, I'm using 1.5.0.4 and the problem is that the borders don't appear and all the text doesn't have gaps between lines. Thanks.

the quoting hasn't been enabled for IE yet other than highlighting and clicking the quote button, and I'm using that. although I may switch to Firefox sometime, but not now. and I'm using IE 6.0

On an unrelated note in regard to the new forums, users are REQUIRED to have JavaScript enabled. If they do not allow JavaScript to function for GalCiv2.com, the forums will not load properly and visually will not properly display. If you encounter this, please check your browsers settings for JavaScript.

I was never a fan of the old forum design, this one is MUCH better.

This might be my problem. How do you check if JavaScript is enabled in firefox.

Much better than before !!!

Love the new site, it's so much easier to navigate now.

Though we may want to adjust the stardock employee icon so it doesn't get that white jaggy edge thing

In FireFox go to: Tools -> Options -> Content -> make sure 'Enable JavaScript' option is checked.

I like the new look and performance, but it seems like the "Recent Posts" window on the left between "Forum Links" and "Reviews" is only available from the Home page instead of from all pages. Was this omission on purpose?

Cheers,

Yes, the recent posts was removed from the sidebar when in the forums as it is now available on the main forums page (https://forums.galciv2.com/).  Just scroll down a bit.

For those having problems in Firefox:

I had to do a shift-reload to get it working.
Once I had done that it worked fine from then on, until then it just looked bonkers.
