Don't get mad Stardock.

Finally, after checking every few days, there are eight new screen shots for 'Space Empires 5' atLink
The game is still in development and some of the screen shots are rough.

The game is planned for June of this year,2006.I'm sure it will appeal to many here also.

Galactic Civilizations 2 is great and I'll just have to take turns on playing both; and I'm eagerly awaiting GalCiv 2's expansion and Galactic Civilizations 3 !

It's perfectly okay to talk about Space Empires V, Sword of the Stars or any other PC strategy game here.  We want them all to do well.

In fact, when the time comes, we'll probably create a sub-section where people can talk about other games.

Wow do those screen shots remind anyone of another Good game?

cough *this one* cough

Or do all space empire games have similiar UI's
ANyway just glancing it looks like Gal Civ 2 is already ahead of them, and quite frankly this game puts the bar pretty dang high for just about anything.

Great.... Now I'll have to play three games at once...Galactic Civilizations 2, Space Empires 5, and now Sword of the Stars.

get three computers isn't that the beauty of TBS?

i played SE4 briefly. there were things i really liked about it, things i would have really loved to see in GC2. heck, if i could merge the two games, i would. but I found the AI in SE4 was really bad. i think when it comes to the future of strategy gaming, stardock has set a precident with GC2 by creating unscripted AI. unless their AI can hold a candle to GC2's, I doubt I'll feel especially torn. of course it's too early to tell, and i'm hoping for the best. i've kind of been itching for a good RPG, though.

Luckily, GC and SE are pretty much totally different games. SE can be a lot of fun, but it's a lot of work: my favorite SE experiences have been long-term PBEM or net games with my friends.

Can we quadruple our ram and play them all simultaneously in windowed mode ?

I'll take usability over this every day. Well, to each his own.

SEIV/V and GC1/2 are totally different games...just like Civ4 is totally different from GC2. If you play SEIV/V expecting a GC2 game...then you are certainly going to be disappointed. However, that does not mean that we shouldn't TRY and compare the games and maybe get some handy/good features of SEV and incorporate it into GC2.
