Are you planning on upgrading the diplomacy ui? I've stopped playing because of it :(

It's just too irritating to deal with diplomacy with multiple races. Figuring out what they will or won't trade, micromanaging the amount of credits or influence every trade, the interface just doesn't do what it needs to do.

I posted about this in the past, but never got a response. I was hoping it would show up in 1.1, but there aren't any changes there. I'm done playing GC2 for awhile, the diplo is a deal breaker for me I'll check back at the next patch, you've got a good history of updating and fixing stuff.

Grow up. Diplomacy for me is about 1% of the game. I understand many of you constantly tech trade and try to work over the AIs. Good for you.

To be honest if they redo it, i'd perfer the opposite of what you're saying. Have you ever bought a car from a dealership ? Did you pay what they wanted ? The interface should be, make an offer, they adjust it, etc. AND if you're way off, they don't like you and won't deal with you.

Of course with this they should also give you some sort of guide as to what to expect, maybe a slider that shows you how hard you're pushing.

Sorry to hear that. But we're fairly satisfied with the Diplomatic screen.

We may add in some future version a button that will automatically add how much $ an AI will give you but that's about it. Another thing we've thought about is color coding things so that you can see how much the AI values them.  But I can't promise they'll show up in 1.2 or 1.3.

There will never be a feature such as "what will you give me for X" in GalCiv II. I know a lot of people like that kind of thing but I am very much opposed to that.

Not that - I'm more irritated by the inability to tell what the AI WON'T trade. The money/influence thing is also a niggling irritation, but I just got sick of constantly having to click in and out all of the AI's techs, some of which it would trade under no circumstances (even if I offered all of my planets!) - why do they even show up in the tech list if they won't trade them?

Currently the Diplomatic screen you can't do much more than trade. It would be nice to be able to submit proposals to the UP. Also many of the UP proposals should be broken up into two parts.

For example, instead of "How many trade routes should evil races be limited to? A: No limit, B: 2, C:4, D:6"
ask "Should evil races have their trade routes limited? A: Yes, B: No" and if Yes wins then ask "How many trade routes should evil races be limited to? A: 2, B:4, C:6"

There should be a bartering system placed in the Diplomacy screen.
Starflight 2 used this where you could haggle and buy and sell goods including artifacts. IIRC if you were unreasonable after several attempts the race would remember you and be more sterner when communicating with you. This was fantastic and made the races more realistic and responsive to how you treated them. If you sold them an artifact that they wanted they would remember this and treat you very favourable. Such a system would work great for galc civ maybe something the developers could look at. Bring in a better trade system buy and sell goods and artifacts if your lucky to come across any.
