Mods do not take effect in a current game. You have to start a new game.

Can you be specific? What file are you trying to mod?

Are you:
- putting it in the appropriate "mods" folder, or overwriting the file that comes with the game?
- having the "use mods" option selected?

A lot of the modding stuff is regrettably broken. I think this is on the "to be fixed" list.

If you are using the latest beta versions of 1.1, the mods folder is apparently working. I've tested with techs, anomalies and political parties so far.

Don't just throw it in the mod folder, but make sure its in the right folder in the mod folder too.

I'm having a similar problem. My tech tree updates fine, however I can't seem to get the custom race to start with the techs I've enabled for them in the .xml file. Also, certain stats like birthrate apparently don't want to be changed. I took the code for Aprodisiacs, turned it into a regular building, made it's pop. growth bonus something ridiculous like 5000%, and it had absolutely no effect on the growth of my population.

Alatsuki, theres a 200k pop growth cap anyway. 5000% won't do anything because it's simply ridiculous, try it as 200% and without to see if it makes a difference.

And OP, you change the code line in the game properties (right click the icon)
