Quesion regarding the shipyard and ship creation

I just downloaded the game last night and onlly just begun to figure it out. One thing I was unable to do, though, that was driving me nuts was to see what components the core ship "Scout" had. It showed the details, but not how many engines, support modules it had. Is there a way to see what the ship contains besides what it can actually do?

Aside from looking at the raw file, no, there isn't.

on the main map, select the ship, then click on detail information icon.

suggestion: default ships are useless. always use your own design (even colony, constructor, trade, etc.) with speed.
