More quirky UI behaviour

Here's another one:

- start a new game
- click Done on the research screen and on the planet screen, so that you're looking at the map
- click on the Research button
- press the Esc key to call up the Options menu
- click Main Menu
- click New Game

At this point, you're looking at the map screen of your existing game. The map will not be scrollable.

- press Esc twice. You're now in the settings screen for a new game.

Weird.

I also find it very odd that nowhere in the process of starting a new game, is the player asked for any sort of confirmation. If you click on New Game instead of Continue Game in the main menu, you have no opportunity to change your mind.

I'd just like to add, I'm not going out of my way to find these odd bits of behaviour. They're finding me. I really do like the game, and if I can help exorcise these gotchas from the code, so much the better.

Misfire; i believe that you aren't trying to cause the program to vomit with unplanned menu and/or key combos. I will read the PDF manual and hope the manual that ships with the CD Box version is what takes up the other 1 inch of the fat box; meaning a juicy 200 page manual with details. Also, I dont know as yet but i am going to look into how much of the game can i playing using keyboard controls ONLY. I hope this can be the case. Mousing isn't a big deal, but this game will be much more fun if and when i learn what keyboard commands there are OR if there are a slew of them to learn that would be all the better. i am an old SMAC fan and really got into TBS via keyboard only. ;;cheers;;
