EB stinks, can someone help me out here

Ok, I pre-ordered Star wars:empire at war, and this game at the same time. Well its now two days passed the realease of star wars, and NO game. If they are going to do that with star wars, im affraid they will do it with Galactic civs 2, and I can't deal with that. I've been looking forward to this game for forever, and im not content with getting it a couple days late. So, im going probly going to cancel my order, and order from this site, I just want to ask some questions before I do.

-My questions.
--Is it too late for me to pre-oreder from this site
--If i preorder it today, can I go ahead and download the parts everyone else has
--Can I get a preorder where I download it, and they send me the CD-rom.

Thanks

No, yes, and yes, as far as I know. A definite yes on that last one, which is probably the more important one.

Sweet, Thanks. I absolutely hate EB. I wish beyond all wishes that we had a best bye around here or something like that.

one more question,

will i still get the bonuses from pre-ordering.

and how do I go about ordering for download, and for CD.

It usually takes a couple days for the games to get in after the release date, I didn't preorder civ 4 but eb was the first one that got it out of best buy, circuit city and eb.

I preordered this from eb.

You know, it isn't really that clear. I ordered from EB, cancelled my order there last night and DL the stuff from SD while waiting for my box. On the order screen, don't click the EB icon, look for the "Buy This Game" red buttons. You want the one that is $44.95 plus shipping. It ends up costing you a little more, but come Tuesday you'll be emporer.

Um, ignore that. Wrong thread, and editing's being screwy with me.

Click the pre-order button on the left and pick the right option [retail CD].
This will get you both a temporary serial to DL the game, and a CD after the 21th.
I think you still get all bonuses. I didn't hear anything to contradict this assumption.

I never order though ebworld.com just because of that exact problem. Amazon isnt all that much better either. Best chance to get the game is to preorder from a retailer in your area. Perferably Gamespot or Best Buy. They seem to have a better record for these things. The trick with your local store though is to order early, especially if you live in a small area. Stores in small areas tend not to get the same number of units as a larger metro area. So ordering early guarentees that you show up near the top of the list.
I feel for ya and understand exactly what you are going thru... sorry for ya pain!

If you are going the pre-order route, don't bother doing EB or Gamestop. After you figure in shipping and tax, it comes out to being the same price as getting it directly from Stardock. Personally, I would rather have the extra money go to them than the stores.

The world is moving to the download model for software. It just make so much more economic sense, for the game developers especially. The last hurdle they need to overcome is the issue with 'we cant upset up retail partners' which translates into 'you get no manual or extras, we dont have to pay for shelf space, boxes etc, you pay the same price'

It is the last major hurdle we need to clear. Id buy ALL of my software thru download, except that you pay the same and get less, while the game developer gets more. OCCASIONALLY you see a small discount for download, but more typical is having to pay MORE to get an actual CD shipped to you for backup.

Stardock does an end around this issue with the 'tokens' stuff, but its still and issue.

Unless you get the CD package from SD central. That's what I did, but thanks to Stardock, I've done the download, will dl the rest tuesday, and a few days later my cd will arrive via mail. Same content, just a couple days later (I like having a hard copy of games, it makes my purchase seem more "real"). And all for the same price as what I'd get from buying it at EB or Best Buy (preorder or regualr online purchase, they have neitehr store here).
