Please get the new SDC build (Updated)

The new SDC build has a new activate.exe in it which will hopefully allow you to activate GC2 without any further problems.  If you have a firewall, please allow activate.exe full access, or turn it off completely while trying to install, update, or activate GalCiv2.  Please make sure that you are using the California server.

To set SDC to use the California server, go to Tools->Settings->Internet.

If you still have problems, please send an e-mail to kwilas@stardock.com with your name and e-mail address that you created your Stardock.net account, and tell him what operating system you are using, if you have any firewalls, and what kind of internet connection you have.  Also please give him any error codes that you may have received.

Hi Everyone,

A new version of Stardock Central is now available. When you next launch the program it should auto-update itself. This new build should fix the problems people reported last night with Galactic Civilizations II not showing in the Games listing, plus resolve downloading problems, installation problems, and some of the activation issues people have run into.

If you are running Windows 98/Me, we have put up a new version of the GalCiv 2 beta that should resolve your activation problems.  We will be making more changes to this in the future to ensure things continue to work properly. Note: You may get a crash when installing/updating GalCiv 2 beta through Stardock Central in Win98/Me. Just ignore it and the game will install correctly.

Lastly, it's no longer necessary to have Stardock Central set to the California server. You can set SDC to the Chicago server if you prefer by clicking Tools->Settings->Internet. You should get faster transfers off the Chicago server since the California server is under heavy load.

Ok, managed to auto-update, now SDC won't start...

I'd suggest re-downloading SDC and reinstalling. That fixed the crash issue for me.

No the Crash issue hasn't been fixed yet... I thought the reinstall had fixed SDC crashing on launch as well, however once the machine has rebooted and SDC is started, once again - crash to desktop.

There seems to be something fatally wrong with the latest build of SDC. Something is causing Windows to terminate the program before it even gets a chance to check for updates and validate serials etc.

Just a query with SDC, now that totalgaming works on the tokens system and not all the games listed under the games section are ones that we 'own'... would it be possible to divide the games window up into an area with the games we have already purchased/spent tokens on/had carry over with the subscription and the ones which we don't own (yet)...

Something to make it a little clearer at a glance what is new, what is mine, what is not, and what is available and of interest etc.

If you guys are still having problems with SDC, please e-mail bharper@stardock.com and give him a full description of the problem, with any error codes, and the version that SDC is reporting.

Also, have you tried uninstalling SDC and re-installing it?

4D, you can sort the list by clicking on the installed header.  The ones that you don't have installed will all be grouped together then.
