number of races on a tiny map

Ver 1.9

In two tiny map games, I hand picked 3 races for computer players on setup but only 2 showed up in the game.

I updated an hour or so ago, then started a new game ver 1.9

same issue, setup and end game screen shots. Uncle Festron did not want to play.

Interesting situation, could you provide a save to verify?

I was not able to replicate this, can I ask what other settings you used for the game?

tiny map

1 sector

no minor civs

all the planet settings to minimum

resources to rare

I played three games in a row under two different versions where this happened

I also played a larger map (the medium sized galaxy, 1 sector, no minor civs) with 7 AI races,  and in 50 turns I found a total of 9 AI races and quit.

I don't have a save game. I just removed GalCiv 4 from my computer and reinstalled GC3. All the campy dialog makes it impossible to play a 'serious game' now. The final straw was the Festron asking for people to eat, and my choice being to give them some, or don't but my people would still think very little of me or something. At some point campy starts to sound like self loathing, or mean spirited banner.

I spent some time with older versions of GC. They were a lot less campy overall. The 'we look forward to studying you" bit was over used, but it was much better than what I have been seeing in GC4SN.

I also was reminded of the alignment system at the Star Dock Metaverse in GC2, where you were rated 'Chaotic Good' or what ever based on your game history. Be interested in seeing something like that come back.

I like playing the bad guys now and then. But mostly I enjoy making choices that simulate what I might like to see 'good' civilizations doing. A game that I might get my grandkids playing, where we can talk about choices and see how they impact things. I think GC4SN has a lot of potential to be both fun and educational. But poor sportsmanship displays (in text dialog) by my good civ that are not balanced with a 'high road' response breaks the game for me.

So, I'll reload the game and see what the newest patch brought.
