Ship Designer request - confirm role

Hi,

I know it's stupid but when I slightly upgraded my top battleship in the present game, the designer redesignated it from  Capital  to Support. I noticed with the first upgrade but not the second and ended up with a pile of "Support ships" with serious beam attack (34) and decent defence.

The problem with this is that if I inadvertently use one of these to defend an unarmed transport then the transport and the legions of brave aliens on board get crunched which is at least mildly irritating.

Rather than the serious job of recoding the designer, I wonder if Stardock  could just add a dialogue box when a (serious) warship gets assigned as support something like: "Your ship is bristling with weaponry. Are you sure you intend it as a support vessel? y/n."

I agree.  I haven't run into the Support thing, but it is constantly re-designating my Escort upgrades as Capital, and my medium assault ships as Capital, even though they're half engine.

 

Have they fixed the one where the combat viewer lines up the Support ships in front of the Capitals?  (Yeah, I know it's only visual, but it's irritating.)

If the ship design you are upgrading to is that class type that is what you will get. I often upgrade ships and also to change them to something else in their hull size and have never encountered this problem other than from an error on my part when creating or updating the design in the designer, that tends to default to support and you must cycle to the class you want prior to saving it.
