Where is the planetary defense dome?

I've researched the tech but don't appear to have the option to build it in the planet build list. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Is the orbital defense platform supposed to upgrade to the planetary defense dome? If so, it doesn't appear to.

This bug goes back to last July. The Planetary Defense Dome, which takes quite a while to research, never shows up in the build list.

It's set to upgrade from "PlanetaryDefenseSystem" (in Improvements.xml) which doesn't exist. Or am I missing something?

That may be the one that isn't a tile building improvement. It automatically adds I think three interceptor or guardian drones to each planet when attacked. They also get replaced when destroyed.

The +3 fighter cap is the Orbital Defense Platform, this is Planetary Defense Dome which is researched after that.

Yup it adds a +3 to that for a total of 6

Not quite sure what you're referring to, but if you (or even better, Stardock) removes this line from Improvements.xml: 

<UpgradesFrom>PlanetaryDefenseSystem</UpgradesFrom>

You get a building, called Orbital Defense Platform, that adds 50% planetary defense and +3 adjacency bonus for ship building. There's no additional fighter cap added. This matches the in-game description.

Since there is no building called "PlanetaryDefenseSystem" it never shows up. Seems like a bug. I hope they fix it.

(I'm playing Crusade, not sure if its different in the base game.)
