suggestions for web hosting

low end basic and simple

looking for a free web hosting site.  Looking for simple, basic, etc.  I've done the duckdduckgo searches, and kinda swamped in overkill info.  Anyone with experience in this area care to offer some suggestions - help me cut through all the info-haze?  Thanks all.  :)

As always, you are most kind, and helpful.  And I appreciate you.  I had already done a web search, and found ooddles of results.  Was hoping someone with experience in this partictualr area would comment on 'better' choices from amongst the varied options.  I'm sorry if I was unclear in framing my question.  Again, thnak you light star.

That's OK Elana, I didn't even know there was such a thing as free web hosting until I did a search. The only one I found that looked interesting for me is at https://www.freehosting.com/ . I emailed them with a few questions I had as I am interested in opening up a new site too.  :)

In reviewing their site again I don't think there would be any issues. What they offer is quite nice for free. I think my main question to them might have about if they offer e-commerce, selling of digital goods via PayPal, but I can't remember what they said. It's been a while.  :S

My son develops and maintains websites with e-commerce functionality.  Not aware of any hosting sites which will handle e-commerce at no cost, though there certainly are some which will host simple sites for free or very little cost.

PayPal is simply a payment processor - there is much, much more to the e-commerce piece before you get to accepting payments.  There are standardized packages available from companies such as Business Catalyst, now owned by Adobe, which can be highly customized to a particular companies products & services but they must either be purchased or subscribed to, more the latter these days I suspect.
