Colonies perma-idle, can't build anything

Hey all,

I'm about 550 turns into a game and I ran into a brick wall.

Basically: nothing builds.

I've got an idle colony, so I tried to set it to "Research Priority", and clicked the little button - but nothing happens. Numbers don't change, the little O doesn't light up to indicate it has responded, nothing. I try to build a building and I double click it and nothing happens - a "ghost" image of the building appears on the map, but it doesn't appear in the build queue.

I then tried building components in a star base, but I double click on the component and it just greys out instead of going to the build queue.

I try pressing Esc to load/save a game, but the load and save buttons are greyed out. Holding my cursor over them it tells me to please wait until all invasions/movements etc have been completed.

Because I can't get this idle colony to do anything, I can't proceed in the game at all. I'm stuck, essentially.

I tried going into the C++ 64 section of the Galactic Civ 3 and re-running it, but that didn't stop anything.

I tried reloading 4 times through an autosave and but this limbo happens at the same point every time.

Any help at all?

It sounds like you are stuck mid-turn, because there is something the game can not resolve.

In the past there have been several bugs which caused such mid-turn-stucks and of course several fixes for them. If you search the forum or the internet for "turn stuck" or something like it, you should find them.

I say your options are:

1. Go back to an older save, find what causes the mid-turn-stuck and avoid it so the game can continue. In the past there have been instances where stuck games could be continued this way, but there have been instances where you needed to wait for an update.

2. If you don't have the latest version of GalCiv3 than update it and try again.

3. Post your save game so the GalCiv-developer can find the problem and fix it.

I have the same kind of problems in my couple large games. Usually the appears about rounds 350 - 400. The support has told me that those problems will be fixed in next patch.

Can you submit a ticket with the save game attached so we can take a look?  We'd like to be sure its not same issue experienced by Jarru.  Thank you.

I had this too in a game, presumably due to some constructors being stuck at their shipyard because the yard was too far away from the destination starbase.

A workaround I found was to cycle through the idle queue and moving all idle constructors, after which the colony construction screens became functional again.

A quick way to see if the game is stuck mid-turn is to press ESC, if you can't save it then it's stuck and you need to move some unit.

Mixiel,

Are you seeing this in the 1.71 build which we released today?

Nop, this bug seems to be gone, thanks for that ! :)

Though I do still have the one with all diplomacy options being empty, might be related to if they have too much stuff then the window stays empty or something.

Ae you saying that you've unlocked treaties but aren't seeing them?  Or all of tradable items (resources, techs, etc.) are mission?

All tradable items are missing, like this :

There are also many examples of this in the savegame I submitted in the same ticket.

Thanks
