1.5 Free escort ship perk not applied

The Pragmatic Ideology perk providing a free escort for each ship does not apply when unlocking it.

Additionally: The description says that an escort is given to all ships in own territory. Is this really intended to be applied per ship or per fleet?

If the description is correct I am full on board but seem to remember this perk has been working (in version 1.0 or so) before and only gave one ship per fleet not per ship

As some of the perks do not work and issues around their activation seem to pup up now and then please consider an automated test for them. This could be run before each release e.g.: activate perk and verify if effect is applied before release sign-off. There are some cool tools on the market for this but the engines SDK should also make this possible. The terminal also seem to allow changes to the game on the fly so could be used for the activation

I concur. Though this and many other ideology related perks and events are not working, the devs have been very quiet about it. Many posts and threads about it and other related issues, and quite a few tickets opened (I can only assume).

Here is a link with a bit more discussion on this and other perks/events that are being mentioned as not working. This is more recent, but some of these bugs have been around (and posted about) through many versions of the game since release.

For the record, I do believe the perk should give a fighter to EACH ship, rather than fleet (which would be pretty useless). That is what the description states. Hopefully it gets fixed one day!

After checking out the link it does indeed already contain this bug so that should already be on the radar.

My point still stands on the automated feature testing method though, as the other forum clearly shows there is currently no way for the DEVs to know if these are applied correctly or at all. Since I am sure this specific perk was working in a way a while ago, this means that each release is considered a risk to all the perks whether they have been working before or not (which makes sense considering the SYS DB table relations if any is used).

Collecting the bugs via social media will always be inferior to the automated functional testing as:

  1. Not all bugs will be reported by affected users
  2. Not all bugs will be noticed at the time of the collection process
  3. Each identified bug poses a reduction in the sense of software quality especially if it is reoccurring (which in this scenario is quite a possibility) as perks take a lot of time and effort to get, are quite powerful and visible if not working correctly
  4. There is a considerable risk after each new release that new bugs have appeared (considering that the ideology perks are affected by a a lot of various types of game elements all of which can be subject to change)

We are looking into this problem.  Thanks for the report.

That is great to hear. Can hardly wait to try out 1.6. Hopefully it will be done until or rather via that release.
