Ship Designs Disappear

Why do some of my ship designs disappear when I reload a saved game. Rebuilding half of my fleet designs every time I reload is intensely frustrating and time consuming.

Are we talking about ship designs created before or after the save point?

I have occasionally found myself puzzled where a ship design went from time to time? I wondered if there was a technical reason why i cannot build it, it should still be visible but greyed out? but it was totally gone?

I never really gave it much thought beyond that?

I suppose i am not really one to be too bothered with having the most up to date designs, so long as all my offensive ships are set to capital, that is the only fundamental requirement... apart from that, they can be any old crap, whatever, i know i will pretty much win every time so long as i have my one high defensive escort.

Well, yes, of course they were created before the game was saved. How the heck would they be saved if you created them AFTER the save point.  Odd question.

Since I long ago maxed out all research and designed final versions of my ships I have had no cause for new designs for several hundred turns. I have noticed that the days roll by (real time days) that I have fewer and fewer ship designs each day when I re-boot and open the ship designer. A week or two ago I had perhaps 15 or 16 designs. Now I have 5. All of the cruisers, destroyers and battlecruisers I designed are no longer in the ships designer, though my shipyards are still cranking them out.

I am on turn 1236 in an insane galaxy. I have only had one crash, which seemed to be sound related, so I turned off the music. I am running under WIn7, i7-4770, 16 gigs RAM and an Nvidea-970 (4 gigs). So the game runs pretty quickly.

Apparently the game save has a bug in it.

Also, after one of the recent updates (1.5 beta ?) Galciv 3 moved the saved game directory. What was that all about?

If you trade away your Helios Ore, then any design that was built up to the hull capacity will dissapear until you get it back.  Because Helios ore helps in minaturization.

I own 50% of an immense galaxy. I have massive excesses of every trade good. My mineral excesses are even greater. I have over 800 excess duranium. I do not trade. No, lack of material has nothing to do with missing ship designs. For that matter, I redesigned my ships to avoid the use of strategic materials, using the spam of less capable designs to crush enemies. No, Stardock has a strange bug in saving ship designs. The moving of the save game file proves that something in the save game routine is being mucked with.

OK, this is weird. One of the updates between December 18 and December 27 moved the save game location back to its original location in the C:/users/username/mydocs/mygame/Galciv3 folder. One of the previous updates had scattered the save game, faction, design, etc. files all across the root directory of my second hard drive. Well, this is a GOOD thing, but what is going on Stardock?
