1.4 Bug AI ignores cpt when trading

Started a new game with the new patch, at one point I traded some thulium for a tech. The thulium was more worth than the tech so I checked how many credits the AI would give me on top. It was 126BC extra so I opted for 2 credits per turn for 50 turns and 26 credits directly, unexpectedly the AI said it's a generous offer, which indicated that it would give me more than that so I increased the credits per turn. The AI completely ignored the credits per turn and I was able to set them to 1.4 million credits per turn without the AI complaining.

I was also able to reproduce this when I reloaded an autosave by messing with credits per turn and credits flat until the AI starts ignoring the credits per turn.

But what seemed like infinite money is not really infinite because that shit overflows like a bucket under a waterfall.

:D I was also able to reproduce this. First I offered Thulium Catalyst in return for 60bc and one of their small ships, it was generous. Then I added Defense Systems on my side and 1327150bc per week on their end and they said "Excellent, we will gladly take this offer".

I was also able to type in a ridiculous number and it defaulted to a huge negative weekly payout on their end and I was broke the next turn because they were paying me a negative amount of millions of credits.

And that's why you have checks in place for every number in a system.

If it theoretically COULD reach the limit of the variable's type, IT INEVITABLY WILL! Bug, hack or just some min-maxing grinding asshole. Always put safety checks into place.

All hail the new, improved, fiendish AI! :D

Kind of surprised, tbh, since up til now the AI has basically routinely refused to give out cpt ever, except when utterly and completely crushed by war. This might be an overflow in the price stacking algorithm.

I can confirm this bug. Getting an AI to pay cpt actually seems to sweeten the deal for them. For example, if a trade is setup up and the AI labels it "fair", just add some cpt for them to pay and suddenly they find it very generous. Then you can crank the cpt they pay to the maximum they will accept.

It may be the wraparound bug reported previously. In 1.2 or so, a player noted that, if you get the negative relations trait and then act like a dick, the AI starts to love you for it because you bottom-out the negative and it wraps round to a high positive relation.
