Pleasantly surprised

I eyeballed this game for awhile, having played GC 1&2. But I was reluctant to make the investment for two reasons: my processor is barely above minimum (I have a Core 2 Quad at 2.33 Ghz) and I'd read that this was just a rehash of GC2. After purchasing and playing I was pleasantly surprised that neither of those seems to be the case. The game uses about 50% of my CPU and 80% of my RAM (8GB) but it runs pretty smooth. But what really impresses me is the ambience of the game. To me, even though it is essentially the same as GC2, the feel seems different...more epic somehow. Maybe this was just because I expected it to lag and it didn't. At any rate I'm pleased with the purchase. So far I enjoy it more than GC2.

Welcome back.  Having played the previous versions you have an advantage over those who are discovering Galciv for the first time.  As the game expands over the next eight years I'm sure you will have a lot more pleasant surprises in store for yourself.  And thanks for posting on the forum. :digichet:

For GC3 to be considered a good game, it just has to be better than its competitors.  By that standard, this IS a good game.

On the other hand, there's always things to gripe about.     :annoyed: :annoyed: :annoyed: :annoyed:

My C2Q at stock, 2.4GHz, is too slow, but OC'd to 3.2GHz it runs fine.

It's a weird time to buy a CPU because AMD has fallen behind, new arch not out yet until 2016. TONS of powerful used chips for cheap available.

What excites me about the game is the roadmap - it's improving and will do so for a long time, many games these days are published then forgotten, glad this is Brad's pet project, just have to make sure Paul keeps him in order for all those years  ;P

I'm rather pleased with GalCiv3 too.

Don't be a stranger. :)
