Planet Map Confusion; How to Exploit "Paradise" Tile?

So it says "everybody wants to live here".  <_<

Fine, but precisely WHAT DOES THAT MEAN in the context of the game?

I can build factories, farms, research buildings, defenses, and entertainment facilities, but I don't see an option to build apartments, condos, or little cottage houses with white picket fences.  Maybe I need to research the hidden "Suburbs" research tree? :-"

There are other examples of confusing planet tiles too, but this is the big one for me.  What can I build on these tiles or do I have to build something NEXT TO the tile to get a benefit?

If you select the tile and look to the top right of the screen it will tell you

there should be a green up arrow with something like +2 approval and an orange 4 way arrow with something like +1 wealth

i don't actually know the paradise tile improvement off hand

But the green arrow means anything of that type built on that tile and the orange arrow means anything if that type next to that tile

Approval mod...options seem thin.  Do you mean like a consulate?  Inviting politicians to increase approval of whom, more politicians?

Approval means entertainment, anything that gives +morale.

Your entertainment center should say "Approval improvement" in the tooltip.

The text of the description is just flavor.

Look at the bonuses that the tile gives, and build the appropriate improvements in (and around) the tile.

Approval buildings are pretty few until the mid-game (at least), but they're also the least-needed ones, so no big deal there.  Each building's tool tip will tell you what "flavor" of improvement it is, right underneath the title of the improvement.

I see now.  Thank you all for the help!

Edit:  But now that I think about it, why not have options for housing?

if you look at Earth map you will see that each 'tile' is a 'continent size country' on it's own, (europe have around 3 tiles and US 1 with some room for improvement), imagine that area full of houses... and not much more. The constructions are probably the main income source for that tile's population.

I follow you that "some" space of each tile is set aside for residences.  After all, people wouldn't stand for it having to raise their families in the factories, research labs, or hospitals.   If we have "continent-sized" factories, though, that's sort of what it looks like.  By not having residences somehow accounted for, acknowledged, or hinted at, that's what we make it look like.  Excuse me, it's my bedtime now so I'll just lay my head down here at my MegaFactory workstation.  See you in 5 hours (because we all know that an 8 hour sleep period would NEVER be allowed on factory time).
