Beta 6 Unplayable on low spec rig due to new feature?

I have a low spec rig, and before it begins, I really can't afford to upgrade anytime soon. I do however scrape the minimum specs and as of 5.83, I've been able to play on a gigantic map fairly well with only 4GB of ram and computer that's around 8 years old now.

With beta 5.90 (Opt-in beta 6) I now can't play above a 'tiny' sized map! When I try to select the tooltip to change map size, it will automatically only allow tiny mpas with the remainder greyed out and then tell me that "Small maps require 4GB to play, you have 4GB available"

So does this mean I'm now locked out of the larger maps in game when I had been playing just fine with gigantic maps in the previous beta? Is this an intended feature, or a bug with the new build? Is there anyway I can allow myself to play whatever map I choose to and accept the risks of not being able to play at optimal speeds?

Any answers / guide for how to report would be great

Hope this is the information you're looking for.

For support where examining saves is required, names of ships, planets and starbases, etc, are extremely helpful in their attempts to reproduce the issue.

Oh! Here is the location for dmp files!

I think I just answered this over on the Steam forums.

But you should be able to get to medium with 4GB.

Same thing, says "Small maps require 4GB to play, you have 3.9GB available". Before I managed to play on Immense without problems.

Just trawled the Steam forums and found your post. It still doesn't help much, as you've basically said the same thing you've said here.

The point I'm making is that in the previous beta, I've been playing Gigantic Maps, with all 8 majors, high minors and pirate bases, and it's only been around turn 200 that you get noticeable frame rate loss. Now with latest build, which supposedly has dropped memory usage down considerably, I can't even play a small map because I'm now locked out of other map sizes. This is an awful feature, as I shouldn't be dictated to on what I can and can't do with my machine. How do you unlock this, as I'd like to go back to testing larger maps please?

At work now, so I'll check it when I get home, but cheers for the link. I do hope this is fixed at release.
