Minor stuff to fix

I played a moderate game just to b-line for invasion tech to see what inwasions dp look like. There are few things I stumbled upon while playing.

1. The pirate starbases. Do they exist? I set the pirate level to highest and not a single starbase the whole game (some 150 turns )

2. I fought pirates in the anomaly and noticed that there is no graphic effect of my ship firing on them. Although damage is dealt and appears in battle log. When I later engaged with the fleet of another major civ my ships were firing normally. Then again when I came to dismantle the enemy shipyard my shots turned invisible again.

3. When a race is giving a trade offer to me it is written in their textbox that my gift will gladly be accepted. Why? I am exchanging items with them not giving it for free.

4. Text in the textboxes still doesn't fit sometimes. It makes it harder to learn about some item by mousing cursor over it. LEaves me stumbled into unreadable text.

5. When in the research screen there is no way to know which tech is preceeding which. So when b-lining for something I can't tell what techs would be requred and how much turns it would take to research them all. It would help if this info could be placed in a textbox which appears by mousing over the technology.

After all invasion was a little disappointment. Are there any plans to make invasions more spectacular? Like what we used to have in the original GC 2 and Dark Avatar where tanks and troops were blasting each other? That would be greaty appreciated =)

On #2, what race were you playing as?  When playing as Altarian or a custom race using Altarian ship designs, I've seen the same thing.  I mentioned it in another thread, and Derek thought it might be related to the race.

On #1, I've seen pirate starports, but not starbases.

On #5, try viewing the tech tree instead of the default tech window.  Button is on the lower left.

Don't quote me on this, but I'm fairly sure I've experienced this with Yor ship designs, and one other (not Altarian, but I can't remember which one it was).

for #3 i thought this statement implied that the techs you were providing far outweighed the techs you were receiving at least to that ai

I was playing as Drengin.

I've seen nothing of the pirates exept that one skirmish in the anomaly. And can please some1 explaion to me how pirates work? Do their starbases and ports meant to build raiding ships? Can they capture a planet? Or can they ever have a planet?

I know about the tech tree button and there is the same problem. The path to research some specific tech is not obvious enogh.

I still think this is more of a bug in dialog text. Next time I'll try to raise the deal and see if the text changes.

I don't know what pirates are meant to do, all I can speak to is what I've seen them do. They hide in anomalies to make it more difficult to harvest them. They have starports in nebulas that pump out raiding ships, but their ships (so far) are limited to a 1 tile move, so they don't represent much of a threat. I did get careless and lose a scout. They don't seem able to build transports, so they can't invade planets.

In my last game the pirates are on occasional and they are an infestation. They are everywhere you go.

There are no pirate star bases, only ship yards and they are not a piece of cake to take out. You need a pretty decent fleet.

Pirates are not particularly aggressive. In 175 turns they have only taken out 1 constructor.

The only ships that are performing perfectly are the Terrans. The rest may or may not appear to fire their weapons.

I guess you are talking about the default research screen. If you are not the one who designed it it sucks. Go to the tree
