Edge scrolling is not working for me. This was true for a lot of Stardock titles in the past, but seeing there is an option for edge scrolling speed I should think it's possible. When I move my mouse cursor to the side of the screen nothing happens.

Started a game with the Thalans. Are they supposed to get so many free research projects? I got 6 free projects or something. Thing is that the game shows '6 turns' to complete, but when I select that, the research is done the next turn. If I get that many free research projects it would really help if the UI shows me that they're free.

If they have the right racial trait (I think it's Intuitive) they get a bunch of research points to start with.

Edge scrolling will be in. (Some of) The Devs usually use the dragging method so they didn't notice, but in the Dev Stream it was raised as a question and they tried it, so they should be fixing that within the next couple of updates.

 

The free research racial trait does give a lot of research points. Enough that you're half way through the first Age by the time you've finished spending them. It has to be powerful to be worthwhile - if it were just a single tech, then it wouldn't really be worth much.

What might be interesting is instead of a straight one-time bonus, if it gave (constant) research every turn. This would stop the huge initial jump, but give you a decisive edge over time. Obviously, as time goes on, the flat bonus would be worth proportionally less and less

And yes, it'd be nice if it showed how much free research you have, and also for the Ideology traits that give research.

Thanks for the answers guys. Good to know edge scrolling is coming. Like I said, it seems to be low priority at the Stardock office, but it kinda annoys me since I always use edge scrolling in these kind of games.

Good to know the Thalan research is right too (indeed intuitive trait). But for new players I really think they should update the UI to reflect the fact that the projects are free.
