Turn 378, Hangs on Wait

Can't advance past Turn 378, it hangs up and crashes to desktop, with no error box.  Had this happen a couple of times earlier in the game, but loading a previous save I was able to move past.  That might work on this one too, but this late in the game, that would mean a LOT of rework that I kinda don't want to do for free, lol.  Kinda bummed though.  I have about 1/4 of the map and have good relationships with all of the other races.  Been focusing on building out my starbases and research.  Haven't even started building a fleet yet.  I was just about ready to start amassing warships and unleashing hell.  I have not even yet had a battle!!  Game is looking good, long way to go though yet.  Not going to get a lot of mileage out of a game that feels like work though.....

Since your wait hang seems reproducible, I definitely think you should go to

https://forums.galciv3.com/452855/page/1/

and submit a ticket.    Post if you need help with this.  (You need a second login to submit a ticket; you need to post a link to a site like dropbox.com for very large files like crash dumps; and once it hangs before you kill it you can force a crash dump with the windows task manager).

It was clearly stated on the live stream yesterday that these tickets help them a lot --- this issue has come up and is known, but every data point helps.

I already used the support tool, and submitted the file in a ticket.  Hoping they can fix it so I can finish that game.

Have you tried rebooting and reloading the game. That worked for me once on the hang on wait problem.

Thanks for submitting a ticket. :)

12pak, a bit of advice on any beta, set your autosave interval to 1, or at least as low as the game will allow. This does one of two things, 1) allows you to restart the game with less lost actions. 2) allows you to identify cases where the crash is reproducible from a saved game.

I agree with setting auto save at one but I wish there was a way to save more of the auto saves. There has beedn times I would have liked to look at older saves but the game only gives you the last 2.

One of the neat things about  Civ is that one can have multiple Autosaves.  AUIU, Civ V lets one have as many autosaves as one wants.

That can't be that hard of a thing to impliment, Stardock, can it?  Or at least set an option (perhaps in the prefence file to keep it to advanced users) for the number of autosaves to keep.

I mean, it's not that Stardock is busy doing anything else at the moment.

Oh. Right.

Still, it would be nice to have more autosaves than two. :)  If it could be implemented without taking too much dev time that is.

If your game is hanging up on wait, there may be a band-aid type solution to try. When the game freezes on wait, you will still be able to save the game. Save it. Then reload the save and you should get past the hangup. Worked for me 9 times out of 10.
