Sins of a Solar Empire Updates Released

Today Ironclad Games and Stardock Entertainment are releasing minor updates to Sins of a Solar Empire and its micro-expansions - Entrenchment and Trinity/Diplomacy. This patch updates the games to use a new host for the Ironclad Online server which is now hooked into a more powerful backend system for improved performance.

Registered customers can update their game via the GameStop PC Downloads App (formerly known as Impulse).

For Diplomacy/etc? Yes, unfortunately.

In preparation for Rebellion? No.

Not that an update isn't appreciated, though! :)

Can't even download newest patch.. gives me an error on GameStop saying "Error: File downloaded is smaller than expected." This is very frustrating; in addition, GameStop won't let me register Sins of a Solar Empire saying Error: 204 email or serial is incorrect.

i have 2 different email account and 1 is for sins and the other email is for both entrenchment and diplomacy. i had to re register original sins even though it was showing in my games on gs stardock impulse. then after i registered the original sins it allowed me to update all of them starting in order from left to right: sins, entrenchment and diplomacy.

SGC-1 try uninstalling everything to have a fresh install for trinity. this should iron out any errors registrations and all.

I have the same god damned problem.  Somebody needs to fix this shit.

Being rude to the devs is probably not going to speed up the fix... they're aware of it already.

It's amazing how few people seem to really understand this.

BTW--is there a change log somewhere for this?

In other words, has anything at all changed except for the ICO server?

or does this mean a rebellion beta can't be far off?

I can dream can't I :X

Has anything changed for SP? I don't want to get this unless something has...

I will clarify: somebody needs to fix impulse.  Why would I complain to the developers of the patch when it's the delivery method (something out of their hands) I'm having issues with?  Besides, I was able to download it after uninstalling and reinstalling (redownloading, that is) Sins again.  That shouldn't have been an issue for a 10 mb patch.

Yes, it is some groundwork for Rebellion, even though that's a ways off. ;)

If you're having trouble updating, please uninstall your game and reinstall. That will be the quickest solution.

I've been having serious connectivity issues with ICO very recently, most likely due to the 1.33 update that was just released: I've been getting intermittent lag spikes of 20,000 or so, freezing the entire game for a time, before getting back to normal. The same thing's been evident in the lobby: when I log in, it often takes like 10 seconds for ICO to successfully display that I'm in the lobby... and it can take a similar long amount of time when I change an game setting option, like race or team.

This doesn't always happen - sometimes it responds pretty normally, at least for a short period of time - but this hasn't happened to me before, and started happening just as the 1.33 update was applied a few hours ago.

I'm not sure if it's a problem with my ISP or with ICO, but based on the timing I would guess ICO... has anyone else been experiencing problems?

Yarlen,

It appears that some of the fixes made to the old ICO server to reduce lag are returning.  Is it possible some of the changes weren't implemented on the new servers?

Nope, we only moved to new server hardware and did some minor tweaks to point to the newer databases.

Sandman - You'll want to email downloadsupport@impulsedriven.com from the sounds of it.

No update for me Impulse keeps crashing.

Have you updated to the latest Impulse version yet? (The one that's now called Gamestop something)

If updating Impulse/Gamestop doesn't work, try uninstalling and reinstalling Impulse/Gamestop.

Update via Impulse worked for me few days ago. So nice to devs from me. Good fellows!
