Is there a way to see how far ships can move in a turn?

I bought GalCiv2 a while back, and am no longer a newb, but still have a fair way to go to expert (I'm one and a half campaigns in).

One thing I still find a bit awkward is ship movement. Is there a way to visually seehow far a ship can move in a turn without actually moving it?

Similarly, is there a way to see how far an enemy ship can move on their turn? I'm dealing with Dread Lords and I REALLY need to be able to dance around just outside of their range.

Thanks.

[EDIT] Sorry about the mess this post was earlier.  Posting from my phone mangled it and it wouldn't let me fix it.  Hopefully it's good now... [/EDIT]

A trick I've occasionally used is selecting a ship that has already used it's moves, and then right clicking to count the spaces between the ship I want to move and its preferred destination.

There's an option to turn on a movement grid that can help a lot. It's kind of ugly, so I don't have it enabled as a normal thing, but you can bring it up in special circumstances.

Odd-I have it enabled all the time, and while I wouldn't call it pretty, I wouldn't go so far as to say that it's actually ugly.  Somehow, I just don't see that form matters so much, especially for a grid.  But then I always have been preferable to function.

Purely out of curiosity, how would you make the grid not "ugly"?

Apologies for hijacking the topic :)

I've turned the grid on now.  We'll see if I get used to it.

Looking at it, the main way to make it less ugly would be to make it darker.  There's a sweet spot between visibility and obtrusiveness and at the moment I think it's more obtrusive than it needs to be.

The edge of the sector is also less distinct than it could be with the grid on.

Does anyone know if the grid is a graphic that you can actually go in and change somewhere?

[EDIT] I've answered my own question - given that the lines are equally as thick no matter how much you zoom in or out odds are good they're generated programmatically, not using a texture.  Shame.
