Anyone working on any interesting builds?
One of the things I enjoy doing is trying to come up with new, optimal builds based on a certain play style. Just curious if anyone else out there is working on one.
The current build I'm working on is a structural transfer rook as a hard counter to a crimson vial rook.
1st - general play style differences. If there is another rook on the opposing team (that likely went vial), getting out and 1v1ing him early isn't really the goal. With staff, you can lay down farms or hammer faster than him, but he'll have access to more quick hp than you. Anyway, I've found that I'm typically actually buying nothing at the start with the build. I'll generally run out to mid or to HP immediately to try to get some quick xp from a flag change. Depending on how much money I have at this point (sometimes there is that 3v3 or whatever battle at mid that takes a little more time), I'll either head to a lane for a creep wave or just head back to base immediately to get either vlemish or plenor/tp. All that matters is how much money I have. So, if there is a rook on the other team. Odds are he probably has 1 level on me (as I'll be level 2 at best at this point), but I'll have substantially more mana (but lower access to hp). So, I'll typically get struct transfer at level 2. Level 1 will either be an early hammer slam or tower 1. At 3 I will get whatever I didn't pick up between hammer/tower. At 4, I get struct transfer 2/hammer 2/tower 2. I completely hate having to spec another point struct transfer, but it seems to be the sweet spot for the build (otherwise you might have to retreat before pushing the other rook or whatever off the hp flag).
Anyway, the build is still a work in progress, but you can generally hold early and mid very well (and enough to counter a vial rook at least). Late game, struct transfer usually is a joke as there will be too many ints to make it viable in most games. The downside to this build is that you'll probably find you want trebs as quick as possible... and as you can see, I haven't mentioned getting the archer addon at this point. I generally try to make sure I have boulder at level 5, but sometimes I hold off until level 6.
